Venus Flytrap Explanation

LI: To write a detailed paragraph.
This week for writing I had to go onto Mr Wong's explanation about Venus flytraps and write more of it. For us to do this we had to learn T.I.E.C (Title, Introduction, Explanation and Conclusion) and S.E.E (Statement, Explanation and maybe an Example). Today I learned by going onto Mr Wong's Venus flytrap explanation and write more sentences. I also learned by listening to the instructions, by working hard and being focused on my work.

Kiwi Sport

LI: to learn how to pass the rugby ball.
Today I learned to pass the rugby ball by calling out peoples names. We got into three groups, the first person inline in each group has to pass the ball to each other but you have to pass the ball backwards or sideways. The first game that we played was rippa rush. Its like bulrush but the tagger has to rip off your rippa. Today I learned by going to kiwi sport.

Kiwi Can

LI: To be a good role model.
Today for kiwi can we played two games, those games were called bang and tooty fruity. The first game that we played was bang. Everyone is in a circle and there's one person who says a persons name, if the person said your name you would have to bob down and let the two other people beside you battle by saying BANG! The first one to shoot the other person wins, then the person who bobed  down has to stand up again, but if that person doesn't bob down quick enough you sit down. If someone else shoots they are out and if you do the wrong action you are out. The next game that we played was tooty fruity. Everyone is in a circle and there is one person who says orange, apple and banana. If the person says apple you move forward, if the person says orange move backwards and if he/she says banana turn around. If you do the wrong action your out.

Compulsory Task's

LI. To define digestion. This week for Inquiry we had to finish the compulsory tasks. Victoria and Farzana did this presentation. Farzana used her research skills in order to find some of the information for the slide show. Farzana and Victoria explained two of the related organs that help the digestive system such as- Liver, and Kidney. The kidneys wash the blood and take all the waste products from the blood into the gallbladder which gets stored then released.

Earthworm digestive system

The earthworm digestive system is a complex cycle, the cycle starts with- prostomium, pharynx, esophagus, crop, gizzard, intestine, and anus. A digestive system is a group of organs or body parts helping something or someone digest the food they have been given or eating.

Earthworms swallow food through the mouth. A flap, called the prostomium under the mouth holds the worm’s food in.

The food travels down to the pharynx. It gets lubricated in mucous, which makes it slimy and slick.

The slimy food travels down the esophagus. It gets mixed with calcium carbonate which neutralizes the acid.

The crop is a storage zone. The slicky food gets mixed together again.

The gizzard churns and mixes the food. The gizzard churns the food for the earthworms because they have no teeth to grind the food themselves; in the food there is very tiny rocks and sand grains that helps grind the food, also a chemical digestion starts in the gizzard.

The paste then travels to the intestine. The volume of the earthworm body is made up of the intestine, the food passes through the earthworm and intestine, while it travels through kind of bacteria starts to break food down, so the blood vessels that line the intestine can take in the nutrients into parts of the body.

When all the waste travels to the end of the intestine the anus will take all the waste out so it can be a healthy earthworm. It will release its urine, the digestive system’s style is a complex cycle or system.

Prostomium covers mouth, food in pharynx, into esophagus, crop stores food, gizzard churns food, travels intestine, exits anus.

This process or cycle is like the human digestive system because humans have acid in the stomach that breaks down the food or chunks we have not chewed.
LI. To compare digestion in humans and other living organisms. This week for inquiry we had to finish the compulsory tasks. I wrote a eighteen sentence explanation because we did this for writing. We did the earthworm digestive system. I think the earthworm digestive system is complex. I got one credit for my group, we now have sixteen credits in total.

The Digestive System
LI. To describe the stuctures and perspective functions in the human digestive system. This week for inquiry we had to finish the compulsory tasks. Farzana drew the digestive system and tried her best. She got our group two more credits for The Quizzers which is my group. We are now on to sixteen credits. My group is trying to get twenty five credits so each one of us can buy one question.

Digestive System Word Ring

LI. To explain what the main organs in the digestive system do. This week for inquiry we had to finish the compulsory tasks. Mojtaba, Matthew, me, and Victoria did this activity. We got two credits for this. We had to write the main organs in the circle and the outer circles its the more unrelated the organs are. We colored the circle in our favorite colors. Mojtabas favorite color is red, Matthews favorite color is cyan, Victorias favorite color is beige and Lukahs favourite green. Then we had to write a description

Kiwi Sport

LI: To make a rip.
Today for kiwi sport we learned to make a rip (Rippa rugby rip). We played three games, those games are called rippa rush, rats and rabbits and everybody's it. The first game that we played was everybody's it. Everyone has to have a Velcro belt with a rippa, you have to rip as much rippas off of everyone else, the person with the most rippas wins. Next we played rats and rabbits. There is two groups, each person has a partner, there is one person who's says rabbits or rats, if that person says rats the partner in the rats group has to run before the other partner rips of the rippa. The last game that we played was rippa rush. Rippa rush is like bull rush but the tagger has to rip of your rippas. I learned by going to kiwi sport.

Commenting

LI: To make a smart comment.
Today I learned to go on Aden's kiwi can blog post and make a smart comment on it. I learned by commenting on Aden's kiwi can blog post.

Maori

LI: To learn something new about the Maori culture.
Today for Maori I learned to draw faces of the feelings written in Maori on the board. Fire Odi gave us a paper with four circles so we can draw the feelings on them. I had to draw a good job face, angry face, cold face and hot face. Today I learned by listening to fire Odi.

Kiwi Can

LI: To use the values that I learn at kiwi can.
The new topic for kiwi can is role model. A role model is doing something good so the little ones can copy you. Today we played two games, catch me and who's missing. The first game that we played was catch me, there is one person on a chair and blind folded. The person has a pool noddle, there is a pen/marker/pencil under the chair you have to get the pen/marker/pencil before the person tags you with the pool noodle. The second game is who's missing. Everyone's heads should be down and when they look up you have to find out who's missing, but you only have three guess's.

Worm Digestive System

LI: To write an eighteen sentence explanation.
Today I wrote a plan on the worm digestive system explanation. I you don't know how an earthworm digest, read the steps down below on the image. The first step on doing the planner was to do the explanation. In the explanation I had to put in the seven steps of the digestive system. In the introduction I just put in the main steps of the digestive system and what am I explaining. In the conclusion I had to put in what have I just explained. I learned by using the skills that I learnt in the past.

Volume and Capacity

To measure volume and capacity
Today I learned to measure volume and capacity on two objects, the object that we chose were mostly square. Volume is space. Capacity is how much something can fit in that space. Capacity is also measuring the height, width and depth. Height is how tall it is, width is how wide it is and depth is how far back it goes it also can be length. Today I learned by going onto the google drawing that Mr O sent us, find two objects and then measure the volume and capacity of it.

Counting Kakahi

LI: to identify keywords from a text.
Today for reading I read a text about Kakahi. If you don't know what a kakahi is I will tell you. Kakahi is an organism that sucks it the food and sets it out, this works by siphons (a tube that carry's something through). The food gets sucked into the in siphon, goes to the mouth and lets the scraps of the food go out the out siphon. For the kakahi to live they lay larvae (kakahi eggs) to pass on.

Sensitivity Tasks

LI. To define sensitivity and describe the structures and respective
functions in the human nervous system.

This week for Inquiry we had to do tasks that is based on sensitivity.
We had to do the elective and the compulsory tasks in order to get
credits so we can buy questions.
At the end of the term LS1 is going to have a quiz which is based on
‘Living things’, if we get five or more credits we can buy a question
which will allow us to buy questions for the quiz to win at the end of
the term. The Quizzers (us) in total have nine credits which means
we can buy one question, if we have one more credit we can buy two
questions for the quiz. We are called ‘The Quizzers’ because we like
quizzes and we like winning quizzes. Our group contains the following
people- Victoria, Farzana, Matthew, Lukah and Mojtaba.
We chose these groups because everyone in the group is good at
different things. Victoria is good at blogging, Farzana is good at
multitasking and getting things done fast, Matthew is good at ,
Lukah is good at drawing, and Mojtaba is good at helping people.

Kiwi Can

LI: to show the integrity and making good choices at kiwi can.
Today I learned to show integrity. Today we played two games, those games were called honesty clap and noodle tag. The first game that we played was honesty tag, here is how you play. You have to have a group of people scattered around the room. There is one person who says a number and the group of people have to clap that many times, but if you clap the wrong number you are out. The second game that we played was noodle tag. There is a group of people they have to try and not get tagged by the person who is holding the pool noodle. Today I learned by going to kiwi can.

Wednesday 16 May 2018

Keyword List

LI: to identify keywords from a text.
Today for reading I had to go onto the google document the Mr Wong sent us, then we had to get a book about the nervous system and find scientific/technical words in the book and then we write the words down in the column that says scientific words. We also had to put a reminder in there so we know what that scientific word means. Today I learned by listening to the instruction, working hard and by being focused on my work.

Commenting

LI: To make a smart comment.
Today I learned to go on Aden's kiwi can blog post and make a smart comment on it. I learned by commenting on Aden's kiwi can blog post.

Kiwi Sport

LI: to learn how to play ripper rugby
Today for kiwi sport we did ripper rugby. We played three games. The aim of the first game was to tag people with the rugby ball but you can't move with the ball. The second game was called everyone is it, the aim of the game was to tag everyone until there is only one. The aim of the third game was to get in a line and pass it to each other until we get to the last person, when you pass it to the last person make another line and pass it until you get the place were you want to go but the challenge is its a race. I learned by going to kiwi sport.

Nervous System Explanation.

LI: To plan and write an explanation.
Today I made an explanation about the nervous system  to show how good I can write an explanation. If you don't know what the nervous system is I will tell you, the nervous system is a system of nerves connected to the brain, if there was a fly on your arm the nerve will send a message to the brain and the brain will send a message back to move the arm. We were trying to focus on the introduction and the conclusion. I learned by using the knowledge that I already new.

The Quizers work

LI: To show what work the our groups did over the week.
Today I made a DLO (Digital Learning Object) to show what work that my group the quizers did over the week. The only work that we did was the logo for our team. Our team logo linked with our name because we added a puzzle and a question mark, they both linked with the name because they all link with using your brain. I learned by making a DLO. I also learned by listening to the instructions, by working hard and by being focused on my work.

Moari

LI: To learn something new about the Maori culture.
Today I learned to write something like a pepeha. The work that we were doing was about us, who we are, who our family's are. Today I learned by making google slides based on our family, so in each slide we had to explain who are brothers and sisters are and we had to explain who our parents are. Today I also learned by listening to fire Odi.

Kiwi Can

LI: To learn how to show integrity
Today I learned what the value integrity is. We played two games, those game's were called master tag and opposite The first game that we played was opposite here is how you play. There is going to be one person who does an action and if he/she does the action you have to do the opposite action, for an example if she/he puts out her left hand you have to put out your right hand, if you do the wrong action you loose. The second game was called master tag here is how you play. Everyone is it, and you have to tag as many people as you like, but if you get tagged all the people that you tagged can stand up and tag some other people. Also I took two picture's with Mr Matt and some friends. I learned by going to kiwi can.

Whats my task?

LI: To search for research materials appropriate for our reading level. Today Harry Vader and Percy Jackson went out to find some information about the nervous system. We had to find a school journal, video, internet information and a library book and successfully found all the information that we needed. Today I learned by using my smart searching skills and by working in a group.

Divider Questions

LI: To answer the divider questions.
How did use the divider to solve the problem? I just figured it out in my head.
What numbers did you use? I didn't use any numbers
Why did you use these numbers? I still didn't use any numbers.
How did you did you record your thinking? I recorded my thinking by using my mind.

Positive, thoughtful and helpful comments

Today I learned how to comment on three peoples blog post. I learned to make a positive, thoughtful and helpful comment on three peoples blog. I learned by making google slides about the comments. I learned by listening to the instructions, by working hard and by being focused on my work.

Soccer

LI: To learn how to play soccer.
Today we did kiwi sport a bit different. We were supposed to be playing ripper rugby but we played soccer. Mr Ogilvie started us off with a little game, the game was called "keep away". you have to get into a square, there is one person that is trying to steel the ball off you and you have to pass the ball to the other people in your square but you can only kick the ball twice. After the little game we played a game of soccer but Mr Ogilvie had to shout out how many people to go out on the field. I learned by listening to the rules.

MRS GREN

LI: To learn the seven characteristics of living organism's
Today I learned all seven things that all living organism's do. I also learned the acronym MRS GREN is, MRS GREN stands for Movement Respiration Sensitivity Growth Reproduction Excretion Nutrition. Movement is an act of changing location. Respiration is an act of breathing. Sensitivity is responding to something when it moves. Growth is when an organism gets bigger or increases the number of cells. Reproduction is reproducing one of your own. Excretion is letting out all the waste (This is NOT pooing). Nutrition is the food that all organism's eat and nutrition is also water. I learned by making google slide's explaining what MRS GREN means.

Thursday 3 May 2018

Explanation

LI: to identify a explanation through its features.
Today I made a DLO about Structure and Language for an explanation. I had to put in what I can remember from structure and language. I learned by listening to the instructions, by working hard and by being focused on my work. I also learned by putting in the information.

Sailing

On the second of May some LS1 and LS2's students joined in for sailing and I was apart of it, I am going to tell you what happened there. When we got there they told us how to set up a boat, how to drive and how to go faster, then we had to get into pairs and my partner was Giovanni. Soon after that we had to put on the swim suit, jacket and life jacket, when I tried to put on my swim suit I just COULDN'T get it on. When we got everything on, they told us to take the boats down to the water, they also told us to be careful when going down to the water because you could slip on the moss. When me a Giovanni got set of had to follow the big boat, But then me and Giovanni got pushed out of the barrier, we started screaming help, finally we got saved. After we got saved we just sailed back to the land. Soon after we had another round of going on our boats we played a game, the game was netball but on water, so we had to get the ball into the big boat and you could only hold the ball for three seconds. After the game we got to swim in the water. After all the fun we had to leave.

Multiplier Questions

LI: To answer the questions.
How did you use the Multiplier? I simply picked an equation and
What numbers did you use in the problem? I used sixty three, twenty six and thirty five
How did you split up these numbers? I split up these number by simply dragging the diamonds up and down to break it up.
Why did you split the numbers up this way? Because it was the easiest way.
Why was that way easiest to split up the numbers? Because when I tried it at first I automatically new that it was simple.
How could you show that in a diagram? I can only if you look down at that picture.
Also I made a DLO showing what is the multiplier and how do you use it.

Purposes and Text Types

LI: To access Authors purpose and determine reliability of information given in the text.
Today we learned about purpose's and text types. The text types are: Information report, Persuasive writing, Procedure, narrative, recount and an explanation. Information report: An information report is a piece of writing that tells you information about the product they are selling. Persuasive writing: A persuasive writing is convincing you into thinking the same way as them so they can make you buy there products. Narrative: A narrative is a piece of writing that is NOT true. Recount: A recount is about something that happened to you in the past. Explanation: An explanation is telling you how it goes. Procedure: A procedure is telling you what parts to put on. Today I learned by making slides and puting the work on those slides.
