SLJ Week 1 Activity 1

LI: To collect materials needed to successfully complete our weekly superpower building missions with Nano Girl.

This morning LS2 worked in groups with our Year 4 students to help them create their first Summer Learning Journey blog posts. PBS are still at school this week so finding some of the materials we needed for our treasure hunt was easy. Our challenge is going to be able to find all the materials we need at home now.I found this activity fun an enjoyable because I'm looking forward for doing the Summer learning journey over the holidays. Will you do the Summer learning journey this year?

    1. Hi Riley,
To answer your question I was sent an envelope to help me use the materials in the package if I didn't have the required materials for the experiment. Did you get an envolope?

I have taken part in the Summer Journey this year and am very excited to complete the rest of the activities. Which equipment did you find hard to find and why?

    1. Hi Sakshi,
Thanks for your positive feedback and I will make sure to use that feedback in future blog posts. I have also taken part of the summer learning journey for the last 3 years. I found finding string the hardest. What was the equipment that you found the hardest to find?

    2. Hi Lukah,
Thank you for answering my question. I am glad you took the feedback positively. I agree, we arranged a string by taking a shoelace. I think the best part of this activity was replacing stuff we couldn't find with something else. What did you find interesting in this activity?

    3. Hi Sakshi,
Thanks for having the time to reply back to me. I glad we both agree that the string was a problem to find. To answer your question, I found created the DLO and the Screencastify the most fun. Are you going to do the Summer Learning journey over the holidays?

    4. Hi Lukah,
Thank you for answering my question. I really appreciate it. I agree, creating the screencastify and the presentation with your buddy was really fun to do as we shared each others opinions. I also liked collecting the materials for the treasure hunt as we learnt how to handle a situation when you don't have a certain equipment. Yes, I will be doing the Summer Learning Journey through out the holidays and I am excited to complete the coming tasks as well. What do you think we will be making with these equipments?

  3. Hey Lukah, Riley, Giovanni, Max, Azatulah, Karlos and your room 5 partners,

I’m Daniel from the SLJ Blog commenting team. I’m looking forward to seeing all your amazing blog posts and I hope you’re enjoying your summer.

That’s awesome to see you school is getting the younger and older students together to help each other through the task. I see you’ve got lots of useful equipment there to help you out with the future tasks from Nanogirl.

We’ve had a sneak peek at the challenges Nanogirl has in store for you and they look really exciting, I’m looking forward to seeing how you guy’s tackle the challenges ahead.

I couldn’t see if Max was registered for the SLJ and I don't know who your room 5 partners were so I can’t send them this comment. Please share this with them if you can and maybe ask if they’d like to register for the SLJ challenges this summer too.

Everyone who participates will receive a certificate and a digital badge for their blog and there are some great prizes up for grabs for our most active bloggers. It's also a lot of fun! You can register here.

    Great stuff Team.
See you later in the comments.

    Daniel

  4. Hi Daniel,
Thanks for commenting on my blog along with the great feedback on my DLO. I will make sure that Max will sign in properly this time and I will ease him into the Summer Learning Journey activities. On the spirit of Summer Learning Activities, do members of the blog commenting team get to do the Summer Learning Journey as well?

    2. Hi Daniel,
Thanks for replying back to me, it seems that the following art and science activities sound pretty fun. If you were given the chance to participate in the summer learning journey, would you chose to participate?

    3. Hey Lukah

I would have loved to do something like the SLJ when I was your age. I remember summers getting kind of boring after Christmas and not having anything to do.

    4. Hey Daniel,
I enjoy also agree, without the summer learning journey program in the holidays would be pretty. What were some of the things that you used to do on the holidays?

    5. Hey Lukah,

Thanks for asking. I can't remember too well. mostly just hanging out at home playing games with family and occasionally going to the beach or a friend's house. Does your family have anything planned for the summer?

    6. Hey Daniel,
This year I didn't have time to hang out with friends because of Covid19 but now the virus is starting to die down. My family usually has a Christmas lunch and we have a reunion where we play sports and eat food. In the spirit of Christmas do you do anything special for Christmas?

    7. Hey Lukah,

That's great to here, sounds like lots of fun and I hope you can reconnect with your friends over the summer.

For my family, we're not doing anything different that usual but still special, we're going to church in the morning then have Christmas lunch and then going to the beach for dinner with family friends.
