LI: to use the 5-7-10 writing strategy to improve our writing

Lightning never strikes twice, does it?

That was the question that occupied their frightened minds as they crouched, huddled together, next to the pile of dusty sacks in the base of the windmill. As they cowered in fear they heard loud claps of thunder surrounding them inside the windmill. The claps of thunder surrounded the base of the windmill like echoes. Everyone in the group 

Soon they realized that the windmill was a bad place to hide because it would be used as a conductor to attract lightning from the storm. If the windmill were struck by lightning the windmill would catch fire and endanger them inside the windmill. So then one member of the group got the courage to go outside of the windmill, before he put his first step out through the exit lighting and struck a tree. When he saw that he knew that he wouldn’t be able to get help without getting injured himself.

1 hour in, no one has come to help them and they have no way of getting help. The one and only way for them to make it out unhurt is by waiting until the storm dies out. Waiting, and waiting, and waiting.

After a long time of waiting, the storm seemed to be going away, soaking wet they finally went outside of the windmill. They saw that most of the crops around the windmill were destroyed but no one was hurt and that was all that mattered to them.

That was my story about people being stuck in a windmill while there is a bad storm outside. We used the 5-7-10 strategy. The 5-7-10 strategy is a strategy that can be done with a partner, first you have 5 minutes to wright the story, second you have seven minutes each to talk about the writing and third you use ten minutes to finish off the story itself.
