Key Words for Searching


LI: to learn how to use key words when searching.
For cyber smart we had to use three slides to write three questions in them, we then used our sites that we linked into the boxes from last week to copy and paste the information from the sites into the slides. We then had to highlight the key words from the information. I learned by highlighting the key words.

Kiwi Can

LI: to use Resilience in our community.
For kiwi can this week we talked about emotions, we played two games, we played a game called emotion charades and how does it feel. For how does it feel we had to do different things that made us feel different emotions, we then had to share what emotions we felt back to the group. The emotion charades was about acting out a situation and using an emotion, the other people then had to guess the situation and the emotion. I learned by going to kiwi can.

M.O.T.A.T Trip

LI: to learn about technology and transport.
M.O.T.A.T stands for Museum Of Transport And Technology, we went to M.O.T.A.T to explore technology and transport that were made before the year 2000. We also got to do two activities, for the activities we had to use co-operation and team work to make things. We started off by the staff introducing them selves, we then got split up into groups to explore M.O.T.A.T, my group got to see a village, cars, technology and we also got to see fighter planes that we were not supposed to see. After the exploration we then moved onto the activities, for the first activity we tried to make a working car powered by a propeller, the materials that we had were cardboard, straws, propellers, motors, batteries and wheels. We had to get in a pair a start trying to make a working car. For the second activity, we had to power an LED light (Light Emitting Diode) using cogs, one motor, axles and foundation pieces. We had to connect the wires from the LED light to a motor, on the side of he motor, there was a cog, to light up the LED light we had to turn the cog, but that was way to hard, so we had to use cogs to wind the side cog to turn on the light. I had fun exploring and doing the activities at M.O.T.A.T.

Kiwi Sport | Water Safety

LI: to be safe while in water.
For our new kiwi sport this term we are back to water safety. When we got their we were split up into two groups, the first thing that my group did, was floating on our backs, swimming with boards, free styling with the boards. I learned by going to the panmure lagoon pools.

Kiwican

LI: To use resilience and integrity in the community.
For kiwi can this week, we talked about resilience and integrity. Integrity means doing the right thing, resilience means coping with your challenges and bouncing back. The activity that we played was called emotion disco, emotion disco is a game when we had to use an emotion and act like you are playing an instrument, we had to do that but with no sound. The energizer was a game when someone listened to some music while the other people acted out an emotion. I learned by going to kiwi can.

Duffy Show

LI: to learn new things by reading books.
Yesterday morning PBS were visited by three duffy show actors, they do shows all around New Zealand to try and get kids to read books more. The characters of the play are the puzzler, the dismatiler, Sam and aunt.  The play that they did, was a about a person called Duffy seeing his cousin that he hasn't seen in a while, they both like a game called Magic Blocks, out of no where, duffy gets sucked into the game and he has to find away out. They have to read a book with hacks and trick to the game to get Duffy out. At the end of the play Oscar and Andrew thanked them for showing us the play. I learned by watching the Duffy show.

I learned to comment on Ong's blog, Ong's blogged about his SSR task. I learned by commenting on Ong's blog.

Kiwi Sport | HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)

LI: to learn how to keep our body in shape.
For hit we had to do some pull up bars, we had to do some push ups and we had to do some mountain climbers. For the pull up bars we could put our arms in an over position or a under position, for the push ups, we could do the push ups on our knees, one leg or a normal push up. For the mountain climbers we could do it on the floor or diagonally on the corner of the stage. I learned by doing HIIT.

Finished Play

LI: to write a play in the form of a narrative.
We finally made the finished product, we have finished the dialogue. Since that we have finished it Mr Wong's reading group can act it out. To check it we had a good story and dialogue we read the lines out loud. With the play we had to link each scene with a narrator part.

Basic Facts Boxes

LI:to remember basic maths facts.
For extra work I did basic facts box, a basic facts box is a box with equations that we have to answer. I use this to practice my math for the future math lessons. My time was 6m 42s.This week I learned by doing the basic maths box and by practicing my basic facts.

Word Problem Presentation Explanation

LI: to solve word problems of different types.
We had to go onto a google slide with 20 word problems to do, we had to use the guiding questions to help us out, the guiding questions were what information do I have already, can I solve it in one step, what is the problem asking me to figure out and more. Each question were classified as their math's operations, the first two operations were addition and subtraction, the second two operations were multiplication and division and the last two were proportions and ratios. We then had to record us explaining the solution to one of the problems. Sadly I cant put the video on because of technical difficulties. I learned by doing the slide.

Uranus & Mars | Inquiry

LI: to understand what is needed for human life.
My group for inquiry made a presentation to present to the rest of Mr Wong's inquiry group, sadly two of our year eights were doing something else and I was at testing so it was only one person. For the presentation we had to pick two planets to find out if one of the two or both planets could support human life in the next 200 years, we are not scientist but sadly we don't think Uranus could support human life but Mars might be the one to support human life. I learned by presenting my groups slide to Mr Wong's inquiry group.

SSR Selfie

LI: to learn new things from books.
I did an SSR Selfie, for SSR selfie I use a book called Matter and how it changes, this book is about different types of matter and how it changes. I learned by using this book for SSR Selfie.

What I like | Maori

LI: to state our likes.
We watched a video of a person telling us what her likes were, so we made a poster about four things that we like in Maori and English, the four things that I picked were Food - Kai,  Family - Whanau, Sports - hākinakina and Friends, Takatapui. I learned by making a poster about my likes.

Kiwi Can Recap

LI: to recap the learning from the term.
We had to have a recap of what we learnt about this term for kiwi can, we had to recap about honesty, integrity, reliability and responsibility. Today we played two games, the two games that we played were octopus and go home stay home. The first game that we played was go home stay home. How to play go home stay home is easy, there are two taggers that are trying to stop people from getting into their zone by tagging them, and octopus is like bull rush but if you get tagged you stop and try to tag people from your position, the twist is that the runners can save the octopus taggers or all the octopus are free to run and tag. I learned by going to kiwi can.

Constellations | Skimming, Scanning & Summarising




LI: to use skimming, scanning, and summarising.
Mr Wong's and Mr Ogilvie's group joined together to make pairs to finish of a slide with skimming, scanning, and summarising, we had to do all that for a constellation that we had to pick. We picked Libra and Lyra. I learned by picking a constellation.
