LI: to write a persuasive speech.
This week for writing we had to make a persuasive speech (exposition) about who would win a fight between a Manticore or an Asian dragon, I think that the Asian dragon would win the fight becuase it has lots more abilities than the Manticore, click this to see all the powers the Asian dragon has.
If you don't agree with me read my exposition above. After we all made our expositions we had a debate, a debate is something when two people/groups don't agree with each other, so they try to persuade people into thinking the same way as them, they then have to let the public decide.
This week I learned by listening to the instruction, by working hard and by being focused on my work. Also sadly the Manticore team won the debate.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teachers are Mrs Anderson and Mrs Fisi'iahi.

Tunnels
LI: to learn more about structures.
This week for inquiry we learned about tunnels, we then used that knowledge to build a tunnel made out of spaghetti, straws, rubber bands and tape. When we all made our tunnels Mr Ogilvie put a toy Ferrari into our bridges and we had to build a tunnels that could withstand the weight of sand, Mr Ogilvie put sand over our tunnel, but it got destroyed. This week I learned by working with three other people to make the tunnel. We learned by listening to the instructions, by working hard and by working as a team.

Kiwi Sport (Swimming)
LI: to learn to be safe in the water.
This week was the last week for swimming. For my group (Level three group) we had to do sequencing, we had to do kicking practice on a board, long legs, little kicks and no slashing.
We also learned to put all of our skills that we learnt through the past weeks together to form a sequence. We also learned to do a mushroom pose (knees tucked in), a T (arms in the shape of a T), freestyle/propulsion and we had to make our own sequence.
We did a distance challenge, we did a kicking race and we sculled on our boards for a race. Through the past few weeks I learned by using the skills that I have learnt before and by going to the pools.

Commenting
LI: to make a nice comment on peoples blog.
Today we had to make to make a comment on other peoples blogs. I blogged on Chris's blog, he talked about Odysseus the warrior, if you want to find out more about Odysseus the warrior, click on this to go on Chris's blog.
We had to follow the four steps on making a good comment, first we had to make a greeting and a compliment, second we needed to connect something with the authors work, third we had to make a helpful comment and last we had to encourage the author.

Duffy Visit
LI: to read more books.
This week on Tuesday we had a visitor, his name was Micheal Mulipola, he came to our school to tell us about his life.
While he was here he showed us some of his art (He was a drawer for comic books), he even drew "The Rocks" grandfather (Dwayne Johnson) and he sent it to the rocks mum.
After he told us about his life he gave out some duffy books, each class got one box filled with books for all the kids in that class room.
