SLJ Week 1 Activity 2

LI: to write a quality blog comment on someone elses blog that starts a rich learning.

Leaving a quality blog comment on another student’s blog helps us make connections to new learning by asking open ended questions that encourage a reply and motivate the blogger to ask their own question in return. This is how a comment thread starts and when that happens we make connections with a wider audience who we can learn with and from. I commented on both Jessie from Glenn Iness school and Villiami from Glen Brae school.

  1. Bonjour Lukah,
Wow! I really like this DLO of yours. I have also done this activity, and it was pretty easy, as I have been commenting before the Summer Learning Journey, did you find it easy? I like that you had explained a quality blog comment and how a comment thread happens. Maybe next time try and add more information about the DLO's you created about the bloggers(Jessie & Villiami)

Do you think giving feedback to others is important and why?

    Good Job!

    1. Hi Sulia,
Thanks for the positive feedback and to answer both of your questions, I did find this quite easy as I have been part of a blogging group based around commenting, second I think giving feedback is vital for learning as it gives them a better understanding of the learning topic.

How many comments have you made since we started the Summer Learning Journey?

Thanks for replying back. yes I have made currently made 12 and over comments. I am really looking forward mroe from the SLJ activities , are you?

I'm having a little bit of trouble ending a comment, so could you give 5 different ways to end a comment?

      Looking forward to your reply!

    3. Hi Sulia,
Thanks for having the time to reply back to me. I think to end a comment you could either end it in a question, feedback, opinion on the learning, or just add something that is similar to you. On the topic of comments what do you think is the best way to start a comment?

      Thanks for replying!

    4. Hey Lukah,

Thanks for replying, I think the best way to possibly start a comment, is by adding a expressing(exampler: Wow!). their are many ways. you can also start it with expressing how you came across their DLO, and talk about how interesting it is.

How could you help a new person who is new to commenting, create a comment thread?

    5. Hey Sulia,
Thanks for talking back to me. Thanks for the help, I didn't have many ideas for comment starters. To answer your question I would first teach them the basic structure of comment (feedback, question, etc), and I would teach them to develop more complex comment idea's. What do you think is the main part of a comment?

    6. Greetings Lukah,

Thank you for taking the time to respond back to me! I also agree that we should begin teaching younger students the basic structure. I think the main part of the comment is giving them feedback and asking them to change things that they have not included, in a positive way. We should also give praise to the student for what they have done correctly, in a formal way.

Thank you so much Lukah, looking forward to more from you!

      Kind Regards

      - Sulia

  2. Kia Ora Lukah,
I like how your blurb explains what quality comments are and how they can have an impact on the blogger. I also liked how you talked about quality comments being the gateways to comment threads. Maybe next time, try to explain what the key parts of making a quality comment are. What made you comment on Jessie and Villiami's blog?

    Nice work!

    1. Hi Oscar,
Thanks for commenting on my blog and for the feedback. I will use that feedback to improve future blog posts. The reason why I commented on those two blogs were that I thought those two were quality, along with everyone else's.

What blogs have you commented since the start of the Summer Learning Journey activities.

      Thanks for commenting!

    2. Hi Lukah,
Thanks for replying to my comment. I'm glad that you'll use that feedback for future use. Currently I've only blogged on you and Villiami's blog, but I'll try and comment on more blogs when I have the oppurtinity to.

What has been your favourite Summer Learning Journey task so far?

    3. Hi Oscar,
Thanks for the feedback and replying back to me. My favorite summer learning journey was the illusion art challenge. I really enjoyed that activity and I found it really challenging. If you were to create an activity, what topic would you base the activity off of?

      Thanks for replying!

  3. Hi Lukah,
Great Job, your comment on Viliamis post looks really nice and has all the basic needs in a comment. I like how you explained how a quality smart blog comment can effect someones confidence and learning. Maybe next time you should add the structure of a comment, as some people need an explanation rather than a screen shot. Do you like to comment?

    Keep up the work!

    1. Hi Chris,
Thanks for commenting on my blog along with the positive feedback. I am glad that we agree that quality blog comments affect confidence and learning. Next time when I do create a blog about comments, I will make sure to explain the structure of a comment. I do like to comment as it gives feedback to others. Whats is your opinion on commenting?

Thanks for commenting on my blog!
