Area and Perimeter

LI: use a formula to calculate the area of rectangles and squares
Today for math's we learned about area and perimeter. Area is how much space is inside a shape and perimeter is how long the outside of the shape is. We had to get into pairs, but there were some people left out so we took one of them. I watched an area video and the other two watched the perimeter video. After that we had to go onto this google drawing with keywords in it, we had to give the definition of that key word. After that we had to do a paper with different shapes and we had to find out whats the perimeter and the area by using a ruler. I learned by working hard with my group, by focusing on the work and by listening to the instructions.

Persuasive Writing

LI: to identify the structure and language features of a persuasive text.
This week for writing we learnt about expositions (a persuasive text). We also learned the structure and language features of an exposition. The language features of a exposition is O.R.E.O. I really like the structure because I think that oreo's are really tasty.

We also learned about the language features of a exposition. The language features of an exposition is emotive words, affect or causing words and simple present (infinitive tense) words. Emotive words: words that make people feel emotions. Affect or causing words: Words that affect people or cause people to do this or affect people. Simple present (infinitive tense) words: These are words that are not used in the past or in the future, its put in the present.

Also the acronym O.R.E.O stands for opinion, reasons, explanations and opinion again to support the first opinion. If you want to persuade someone to agree with your opinion use an exposition. We also went onto the google document that Mr Wong sent us, there is a exposition and we had to highlight affect or causing words, emotive words and simple present (infinitive tense) words in different colors, we had to highlight affect or causing words in blue, we had to highlight emotive words in red and we had to highlight simple present (infinitive tense) words in yellow. There is also a spot to copy and paste the exposition.

Today I learned by listening to the instructions, working hard and by being focused on my work. We also learned by going onto the google document.

Kiwi Sport (Swimming)

LI: to learn how to be safe in the water.
This week for swimming we talked about how we stay above the water and stay warm with life jackets. We also learned how to enter the water safely with a life jacket, one hand grabs a shoulder of the jacket and block your nose, then take a big step into the water. If you don't block your nose you could get a cold shock witch is making your mouth open so the water can get in and eventually you will drown.

To stay together form your group into a chain by lying on your backs and grabbing each others shoulders. You then swim together until there is land or a surface to stand on. Also by preventing cold shock huddle together in a group by holding each others backs. This will give body heat to the people around you and body heat to yourself.

When you let go from someone trend, scull or lay on your back to keep above the water, if you are wearing a live jacket there is a head piece to lay your head on, just stay still and keep calm try to scull while lying on your back so you can get close to the people around you. Also when you go onto a boat, you MUST ALWAYS put your life jacket on before you get onto the boa because you can't put your life jacket on in the water, its just really hard.

Lac long quan

LI: to identify the underlying morals/themes/explanations in myths, legends, and fairy tales.
Today for reading we did the same thing from last week but we picked a different myth. I chose Lac long quan because Mr Wong said there was a dragon in this story and I think that dragons are cool. Lac long quan is about a dragon king and a spirit fairy. If you want to know more read the story in the first slide. I had also involved a summary if the story was to hard to understand read the, if the story is hard to understand go to the last slide. I learned by focusing on my work, listening to the instructions and by working hard.

Kiwi Can

LI: to learn how to ask for help.
This week for kiwi can we had talked about asking for help. When we talked about asking for help we talked about if we were shy or if you ask the person something they might think that you are dumb, for an example you ask someone how to spell "the" but then they mock you. We talked about this so we could get over our fear from asking. We also talked about the things that we might be better then them.

For the energizer, we played "emergency". How you play emergency is really easy, there are going to be two teams. There are also going to be hoola hoops starting from one of the teams the other team. Once you start you two people from the two teams run across the hoola hoops and when they meet each other they both have there hoola hoop spot, they then do rock, paper, scissors. Who ever wins gets to run to the other side , if they do that they get a point. The team with the most points wins.

For the activity we played "Matt dodge ball" again. If you don't know how to play Matt dodge ball read my last kiwi can blog post and that will give you all the information you need. I also went up to the finals but then it slipped out of my hands, but I was happy for my friend Chris because he won.

At the end we played some G.K.Q master.Today I learned by listening to Mr Matt, by focusing on the lessons, by playing the games and by going to kiwi can.

Cityscape Art

LI: to learn how to do art.
Today instead of doing math's, reading, writing or inquiry, we did art. The type of art that we did was a cityscape art. The first step of doing this was to find a picture of a city, I chose Auckland and then we had to put that picture on a google drawing.

After that we then had to put black colored blocks over all the buildings and then we got rid of the photo and BAM! The thing that was just created is the city that we picked but black. We also had to change the size to an A4 size.

Mr Wong then made a folder, we also had to make the cityscape into a PNG, then we had to put the PNG into the folder that Mr Wong made. After that we had to get a picture of a sunset. when we picked a photo we had to get one black paper and other colored papers.

We then had to recreate the sunset with the other colored papers, Mr Wong printed out the cityscapes, we then took them and put it on the sunset paper that we made. I tried to take a picture with my name in the bottom right hand corner but when I took the picture my name came out backward letters.Today I learned by listening to the instructions, by working hard and by being focused on my art.

Commenting

LI: To make a smart comment.
Today I learned to go on Aden's kiwi can blog post and make a smart comment on it. I learned by commenting on Aden's kiwi can blog post.

Multiplication

LI: To memorize basic multiplication patterns (the times tables).
This week for daily six I did level two multiplication, not division because I'm not really good at it. This week I did my two times tables, my five times tables and my six times tables. Today I learned by getting my math's book and by practicing my four, five and six times tables from one to ten. I also learned by focusing on my times tables and by working hard.

Dance Mat Typing

LI: to learn how to type with the right fingers.
Today I played dance mat typing, I played this game because I needed to improve on how I typed. In this games we have to type the right letters and the right words to get the goat dancing. If you want to improve on your typing skills play this game. Today I learned by playing dance mat typing.

Procedural Text

LI: to write a procedural text.
Today I learned to make a procedural text on how to make a triangular prism. A procedural text is a type of text that tells people how to make something. We also learned to make the procedural text by using a procedure planner. The structure of a procedure is T.E.M.P.S (Title, End result, Material list, Pictures and Steps). The language features of a procedure is third person, infinitive tense, starting verbs. Today I learned by listening to the instructions, by working hard and by being focused on my work.

Kiwi Sport

LI: to learn how to be safe in the water.
Today for swimming we talked about how to save a panicking/drowning person. We also learned how to stay above the water and say help. We also had a buddy and we needed to lye down on our tummy, then we had to throw a noodle to say them. We had to keep our body over the water and wave our hand in the air.

We also learned not to get close to them or else they will hurt you. To be above the water you need to get into the sitting position, put your legs wide and then spin them, then scull with one hand and the other hand is waving. I learned by going to the swimming pools.

Mytholigy

LI: to identify the purpose of narratives.
LI: to identify the underlying morals/themes/explanations in myths, legends, and fairy tales.
This week for reading we talked about myths all around the world. I also worked with a partner, my partner is my friend Chris. We did the myth Izanagi and Izanami, its a story about two beings from heaven, they stopped a war, but something very bad happens. If you want to know more click on the video in the slide show. If you also want to know some information about them read the summary. Today I learned by working with my partner Chris.

Foundation

LI: to learn how a structure stands.
Today for inquiry we learnt about foundations. Foundations is a concrete piece that holds structure up, sometimes they can come out in wood or any other material. Today I also had to work in a group of three to make a slide show about the five foundations. The five foundations are: The slab foundation, the pier/pile foundation, the wall foundation, the column foundation and the cassen foundation. You can find out all the information in the google slides. Today I learned by working with my group.

Angles Measuring

LI: identify and construct right, acute and obtuse angles
Today for math's we had a piece of paper witch had examples of angles. We had to use a protractor to find out what were the degrees of these examples. The answers are backwards on the picture so I am just going to show you the answers for one, two, three, four, five, six, seven and eight. If you look down there will all the answers. I also had to get in a group of four to work together into getting all the correct answers.
1. 80 degrees
2. 140 degrees
3. 50 degrees
4. 120 degrees
5. 92 or 91 degrees
6. 77 degrees
7. 55 degrees
8. 50 degrees
Today I learned to work together with my group. If you want to know how to use a protractor watch this video.

Problem Solving with Kiwi Can

LI: to learn how to solve problems.
Today for kiwi can we learnt how to solve our problems by team work. We learned how to solve problems by playing two games, the first game was human knot. When you play this game you need to have team work, in this game there are two teams. There should be an equal amount of people in the teams. Each team is formed in a circle, everyone has to use there right hand to grab someone else's hand, but you can't hold the hands of a person next to you, after that you then do the same with your left hand. Once everyone's hands are jumbled you then have to work together to untangle to form the circle. The first team to finish wins.

The second game that we played was Matt dodge ball. Mr Matt made up this game because it has his own name in it. When you play Matt dodge ball everyone has to get numbered from one to as much numbers as your group can fit. There is one person who calls out the numbers, if you the number ones were called out the other people have to form a circle and the people who were the numbers that were called out are in the middle of the circle. The other people have a ball and they have to roll the ball to hit one of the kids/adult, if you get hit you are out. This keeps on going until there are the final numbers. The other people have to get the other numbers to let there number team to win. Today I learned by going to kiwi can.

Sky Tower Trip

LI: to learn about structures.
Today for inquiry we did something different. We went on a whole trip to sky city to see that sky tower. We got into the sky tower going down an escalator to underground. We went into our own groups, group A went with Mr Wong and Group B went with Mr Ogilvie (Group A: Year fours and fives, group B: Year six's and some year fives) .We had to go underground to get to the sky tower, but first we had to watch five or four videos. The videos talked about what it can withstand, how much did it cost. The video's had a range of information that we had to put in our heads. We needed that information for a trivia about the sky tower. After that we took a picture of all of us, but group B wasn't there. After the photo we went into this elevator witch can take people to the observation deck in forty one seconds from the observation deck and the underground place. When we got to the observation deck we were given a paper and a pencil, in the paper there were pictures of places, there were little boxes near a place and we had to write the names of the place the box is near in the box. Sadly my group didn't get to finish it all. When the time was up for doing the task we walked down some stairs to get to the forty fifth floor, in the forty fifth floor was a refuge, the refuge was a safe place to go to when a natural disaster happens, but know one has used the refuge. The tower is so safe that know one even use's the refuge. After the tour in the refuge we walked to an elevator and we went back to the ground safely. Today I learned by going to the sky tower.

Narrative

LI: to write a quick narrative.
Today I learned to write a quick narrative. We had to do the same thing from last week but we had to add our own ideas and we could pick a picture that we like to make a narrative about. My story was about a man having a nice hike through the mountains, while he was walking it started to rain and a big giant kidnapped the man, the giant kept the man in a cage, if you want to find out more read the story down below. You can also look at the picture that I used to make the narrative. Today I learned by using the planning template. I also learned by working hard, listening to the instructions and by focusing on my work.

Tengu Lessons

LI: to learn lessons in life.
Today I made a google slide about the lessons in tengu stories. In the google slide there are four stories of tengu. I had to show the lessons and what they teach us. I also found all of the stories from this site. If you want to read the stories look at the google slides up there. Today I learned by working hard, listening to the instructions and by focusing on my work.

3D Shapes

LI:use the terms faces, edges and vertices to describe models of polyhedra.
Today for math's I had to work with a partner to get this work finished. My partner was Karlos, me and Karlos had to make a slide show about the shapes that we made out of blue tack and tooth picks. The shapes that me and Karlos made were: Rectangular Prism (Cuboid), Triangular Pyramid (Pyramid with a triangular base), Square Pyramid (Pyramid with a square base) and a triangular prism. We had to say how much vertices, faces and edges there were. Today I learned by working with my partner.

Kiwi Sport (Swimming)

LI: to learn how to be safe in water.
Today we learnt how to scull, streamline on our backs and we also had to put our feet first while sculling. We had to remember when we are sculling we have to turn our hands up and down. We also talked about hypothermia, we learnt that hypothermia is when you get really cold. We went through the signs of hypothermia, the signs were: Blue lips, your shivering, your teeth are shaking, your confused, you can't walk properly and you cant talk properly (you think that you are making sense but actually you are talking gibberish. If you have a bad hypothermia see an adult, also DON'T put yourself in a hot shower if you have hypothermia or else you will faint, if you have a bad hypothermia and go into a hot shower you might die. Today I learned how to scull, streamline on our backs and we also had to put our feet first while sculling. I also learned by going to the inside pools.

Bridges (Inqiury)

LI: to learn about structures.
Today I learned how to do the panmure bridge vs another bridge. We had to make three of the "this vs that" google drawings. In the google drawings we had to do a New Zealand bridge vs the panmure bridge, we also had to do a international bridge vs the panmure bridge. We had to say what year the bridge was built, what was the length, width and height, we had to say how much money did people use to build the bridge, what materials they used to make the bridge and the type of bridge. The three other bridges that we did the Auckland harbor bridge, the blue water bridge and the bridge to nowhere. Today I learned by working with my partner Matthew so we could get this finished.

Kiwi Can

LI: to show resilience
Today I learned how to set goals and how to play two games. The two games were called snatch and octopus. The energizer was snatch, how you play snatch is pretty easy, its like musical chairs. There is a circle full of cones, one person puts on music, when ever the music stops you have to  get a cone as fast as you can before anyone else takes them, the rules is you can't dive in or people will get hurt. The activity was octopus, how you play octopus is easier than the last game. Their is a person in the middle playing as the octopus, you have to get to the other side without getting tagged by the octopus, if you get tagged you are now an octopus and you have to help the original octopus to tag people, in this game to get to the other side you have to crawl or hop on one leg, this go on and on until there is only one winner. Today I learned by going to kiwi can.

Narrative

LI: to write a quick narrative
Today I learned to write a quick narrative. I had to use the backwards s plan and the coggle plan to make this. I also had to use T.O.P.E.S (Title Orientation Problem Events and Solution) The Orientation the five w's and the hook (Who, what, when, where and why). The narrative is about a family going on a hike through the mountains, but their kids get separated from their parents, to read more read the image above. Today I learned by listening to the instructions, working hard and by being focused on my work.

Panmure Bridge (Structures)

LI: How have the changed and adapted to human need over time
Today I learned to work in a group of three two finish the google slides, in the google slides we had to put up pictures of the panmure bridge, what was impact, what might the panmure bridge look like in the future and we had to show what changes that the panmure bridge has been through since 1865 all the way to 2018. I learned by working with my group.

Media (Portray)

LI: to identify the purpose of the information presented in media.
LI: to understand that media is made for purpose.
Today I learned to make a word cloud and I learned to portray myself, portray means describing someone. While doing this we made a plan a a goal so we could learn the lesson from kiwi can and work at the same time. We first to go onto the google slide and put two photos suitable for my family and friends and a photo suitable for school, the photo for family and friends is a home one. After the photos, we had to portray two pictures and making a list of words, I needed those words for the word cloud.
Suitable for blog
Suitable for family and friends

Portraying school photo

Kiwi Can

LI: to learn how to set goals
Today LS1 went to kiwi can and we learnt how to set goals. We played two games, tag snatch and ball trouble, the first game was tag snatch. How you play tag snatch is like rippa rugby, you have a tag in your pocket dangling out, you have to steel everyone's tag until there is only one winner. The second game was ball trouble, we had to pair up, the challenge was you had to hold the ball in between both partners backs, but you cant use you hands, the goal was to carry the ball to one end of the room and then carrying it back. Today I learned by going to kiwi can.
