Maori Numbers
LI: to learn about the Maori culture, language, history.
This week for Maori we had to learn about the Maori numbers, we learnt that Tatau meant to count, kore meant zero, Rau means hundred, Mano means thousand and Miriona means million, for an example 1,234,567 in Maori would be Tahi Miriona ma rua rau mano ma te kau ma toru mano ma mano wha ma rau rima ma te kau ma ono ma whetu. We use the same pattern for every number in Maori under 10 million. We used this document to practice our numbers in Maori.

LI: to learn how to say different types of food in Maori.
This week for Maori Fire Odi showed us a video about some Maori story's, if you want to watch the video click this link.
After the video we talked about different type of food and how to say them in Maori. We had to get into pairs, one person didn't have anyone to work with so he worked with us as a group of three. We had to make a poster about four different foods, since that we were a group of three we had to make another poster talking about meals (Breakfast, lunch, dinner and a feast), we also had to add in how to say them in Maori. We also had to add images that linked with the food.
This week we learned by working as a group. We also learned to be focused on our work, by working our hardest and by listening to the instructions.

Maori
LI: to learn more about the Maori culture.
This week for Maori we talked about the waka migrations and the great migrations, the waka migrations were just one waka finding land , but the great migration were seven boats trying to find land for their tribe. We talked about what food did they eat, how they navigated and what places they sailed to.
We first talked about who was the founder of New Zealand, The person who found New Zealand was named Kupe. The food that they brought on their boats were coconuts, because they were a source of water and food. At night the sailors used to navigate by the stars, in the day they would navigate by the sun because the sun is east so the opposite way of east is west, if they wanted to find the south, they would have to find the southern cross, if you imagine a line coming from the bottom of the cross all the way to the southern star, which be near the horizon (where the sky meets the land or the sea).
This week I learned by working hard, by being focused on my work and by listening to the instructions. I also went on this site to see where they sailed to, click this if you want to go to the site.

Maori
LI: to learn something new about the Maori culture.
Today I learned to do a string game. The string game doesn't really have any rules you just have to make things with your string. The Maori name for the string game is Whai and the actual english name is cats cradle. I got to learn how to make lots of things like a parachute and a trap. The string game was kind of difficult because when ever I tried to do the trap it would always unravel. I learned by listening to Fire Odi.

A house or a home
LI: To write two differences and similarity between my house and a wharepuni (Sleeping house).
For this activity I had to write two differences and similarity between my house and a wharepuni (Sleeping house). I think the two similarity's are that it has the front door and it has a roof, those are the only two thing's I could think of because its a bit different. I think the two differences are, it doesn't have a kitchen and it's a bit small.
