Kiwi Can Reflection

LI: to learn about leadership.
For Kiwican we were talking about Leadership. We were talking about what leaders needed to overcome, and what is a confident leader. They need to overcome fear, embarrassment, anxiety, emotions and the negative outcomes of possibilities. Leaders also need to be brave and take risks. We also shared our personal leaders in our lives, like our parents, or even someone famous. Leadership means being responsible, being confident, and patient. A confident leader inspires people to do their best, and is a role model. Kiwi Can really made us think about all the leaders in our life and around the world.

LI: To include and engage others by being sensitive to their feelings

For Kiwican this term our Theme is Positive Relationships and our theme for the next couple of
weeks are Fairness and Fairplay. We first started off by playing our Energizer which was changing
places. We then talked about how fairness and fairplay could go in a game situation. For example you
can be fair to people in a game by having an equal amount of players in each team. We also talked
about what courtesy was. Courtesy is being polite and having manners toward other people.
We also talked about Common sense which is making wise choices. Lastly we talked about
Consideration which is being thoughtful of others. Then all those words come up to Empathy.
Empathy is being all those things we talked about together. We then did a roleplay on Empathy.
Our role play was about a person who got hurt by the other team, while his teams help him up and
the person who hurt him helps him up.

For kiwi can this week we played 5 games, the first game that we played was traffic lights, for this game we needed to get into partners. The two people had to do certain things when a certain color is called out. The colors were black - switch positions, white - back person touches front persons shoulders, blue - switch positions twice, yellow - front person touches the ground, red - back person touches their head. The next game that we played was musical cones, we had to play against other people to grab a cone, when the music stopped we had to grab the cone, first person to grab the cone moves on to another person. The next game was called bitty bitty bop, a person would say bitty bitty bop to us and we would have to say bop before they finished the sentence, if they said bop and you said bop you'd would be out, they added other actions that needed three people, they were called charlies angles, Mary Poppins and elephant.

The next game that we played was called hot potato, we have to pass the ball around until a sentence is finished. The last game that we played was called Do this! Do that! The aim of the game is to do the same thing as the person saying do this but when he says do that and we do it we are out.

LI: to learn how to be patient
For kiwi can we were learning about how to be patient and if we are not patient we would get angry. For the energizer we played a game called grab it. The way on how to play this is with a group of people in a circle, everyone puts there left hand out and put their right index finger and middle finger on another persons right hand. A person says a sentence with a specific word, when that word is said in the sentence you have to grab the persons hand with your left hand while also lifting your right hand without getting caught.

The next game was a patience test, the test was called pass it on. There are two teams in lines, one person would squeeze both shoulders of the people at the back of the line, they then had to pass the squeeze on until they reached the person in front. The person in front has to run to the cone before the other person does.

Kiwi Can

LI: to use resilience in the community.
Resilience means coping with our challenges and bouncing back. The topic for the few weeks is self discipline/self control.

The energizer for kiwi can today was game game called rats and rabbits, there are two sides, one side are the rabbits and the other side are the rats. To start of the game one person says either rats or rabbits, if the say rabbits the rabbits have to pick up a cone before the rats do, and it would be the same for the rats.

The activity that we played was a game were we had to get in a group and we had to do different types of challenges, the challenges were: re-create the catchphrase, write the alphabet backwards, do 5 Push ups, 5 sit ups, 5 burpees and 5 squats.

The challenging part about the challenges was that we had to do them under a minute. I overcame this by trying my best to do it fast. The rats and rabbits game was challenging because I couldn't have self control over my self, I had overcame it by being calming down and being happy for the other person for winning.
