Asian Dragon vs Manticore Speech

LI: to write a persuasive speech.
This week for writing we had to make a persuasive speech (exposition) about who would win a fight between a Manticore or an Asian dragon, I think that the Asian dragon would win the fight becuase it has lots more abilities than the Manticore, click this to see all the powers the Asian dragon has.

If you don't agree with me read my exposition above. After we all made our expositions we had a debate, a debate is something when two people/groups don't agree with each other, so they try to persuade people into thinking the same way as them, they then have to let the public decide.

This week I learned by listening to the instruction, by working hard and by being focused on my work. Also sadly the Manticore team won the debate.

Tunnels

webcam-toy-photo22.jpg
LI: to learn more about structures.
This week for inquiry we learned about tunnels, we then used that knowledge to build a tunnel made out of spaghetti, straws, rubber bands and tape. When we all made our tunnels Mr Ogilvie put a toy Ferrari into our bridges and we had to build a tunnels that could withstand the weight of sand, Mr Ogilvie put sand over our tunnel, but it got destroyed. This week I learned by working with three other people to make the tunnel. We learned by listening to the instructions, by working hard and by working as a team.

Kiwi Sport (Swimming)

LI: to learn to be safe in the water.
This week was the last week for swimming. For my group (Level three group) we had to do sequencing, we had to do kicking practice on a board, long legs, little kicks and no slashing.

We also learned to put all of our skills that we learnt through the past weeks together to form a sequence. We also learned to do a mushroom pose (knees tucked in), a T (arms in the shape of a T), freestyle/propulsion and we had to make our own sequence.

We did a distance challenge, we did a kicking race and we sculled on our boards for a race. Through the past few weeks I learned by using the skills that I have learnt before and by going to the pools.

Commenting

LI: to make a nice comment on peoples blog.
Today we had to make to make a comment on other peoples blogs. I blogged on Chris's blog, he talked about Odysseus the warrior, if you want to find out more about Odysseus the warrior, click on this to go on Chris's blog.

We had to follow the four steps on making a good comment, first we had to make a greeting and a compliment, second we needed to connect something with the authors work, third we had to make a helpful comment and last we had to encourage the author.

Kiwi Can

LI: to persevere.
This week for kiwi can LS1 group a won! If you don't know what I am talking about I can tell you, every kiwi can we do we get points if we were being respectful, participating, encouragement and etc.

We got to choose two games to play at kiwi can. The first game that we played was invisible rugby I already explained it but if you don't know how to play invisible rugby look on my last blog about kiwi can you will get all the information you need.

The other game that we played was hand soccer, is exactly like soccer but we can only use one hand, we can't throw or hold the ball. This week I learned by going to kiwi can.

Born to fly Video

LI: to identify the purpose of narratives.
LI: to identify the underlying morals/themes/explanations in myths, legends, and fairytales.
This week for reading we are making a DLO (Digital learning object) about born to fly, we had to add in all of the types of media/medium, video, pictures, audio and animation. We then had to make a video about it, we also had to work in the same partners that we worked with to read the book that we were reading. This week I learned by working with my partner Spelman, I also learned by working hard and by being focused on our work.

Duffy Visit

LI: to read more books.
This week on Tuesday we had a visitor, his name was Micheal Mulipola, he came to our school to tell us about his life.

While he was here he showed us some of his art (He was a drawer for comic books), he even drew "The Rocks" grandfather (Dwayne Johnson) and he sent it to the rocks mum.

After he told us about his life he gave out some duffy books, each class got one box filled with books for all the kids in that class room.

Tunnels

LI: to learn about tunnels.
This week for Mr Ogilvie's inquiry group we made a google slide, google drawing, google document o or google sheets if we wanted to, but we mostly had to make a DLO (Digital learning object) about tunnels, if you want some information about tunnels look at the google slides, I also worked with my friend Chris to do this. We used three sites to get information, if you want to check them out click this or this or this. Today I learned by working with my friend Chris.

Time Vocabulary

LI: to learn about time.
This week for math's we talked more about time, this week we made a vocabulary list of words that link with time. I have found twenty one words that link with time and I gave each of the words their definition, so I started from the smallest part of time all the way to the biggest part of time. I got some of my words from this vocabulary list . This week I learned by listening to the instructions, by working hard and by being focused on my work.

Kiwi Sport (Swimming

LI: to learn how to be safe in the water.
This week for swimming we learned to tred with a noodle for three minutes and without a noodle we had to tred for one minute.

We also got asked some questions so we can revise on what we learned from the past few weeks, we got asked what to do when in a rip, water safety and hypothermia and hypermedia, hypermedia is being too hot and hypothermia is being too cold.

After that we did some kick practices (long legs, pointy toes, little legs) and after that we then did a diving race. This week for kiwi sport (swimming) I learned by using the skills that I have learnt before. I also learned by going to swimming.

Reading Notes

LI: to identify the purpose of narratives.
LI: to identify the underlying morals/themes/explanations in myths, legends, and fairytales.
This week for reading we are not making the DLO (Digital Learning Object) yet, the DLO would take two weeks to finish so we are blogging the reading notes. The reading notes helps us predict, connect it with something else or something else. Before we read we have to do answer the prior knowledge questions, we then do our prediction questions and then we do our questioning. For during reading we first do making connections, then we do our visualizing and lastly we infer. For after reading we need to summaries and synthesize. The book that I used this for was born to fly. This week for reading I learned by working hard and by being focused on my work.

Leviathan vs Kraken

LI: to write an exposition (persuasive text).
This week for writing we had to right an exposition about witch is the most devious ( leprechaun or a Jinn/Genie) or who's the most dangerous ( Leviathan or Kraken). I wrote an exposition about witch is the most dangerous, I think that the leviathan is more dangerous, if you don't believe me click this and see what the leviathan can do.

I had to make a exposition to make people believe or agree with my opinion, I had to use O.R.E.O (Opinion, Reasons, Explanation and another opinion to back up the first opinion), we also had to use three causal factors and two statements.

After that I had to make a flip grid (video) with me saying my exposition. If you don't know what flip grid is, its a site that people can use to make videos about. This week for writing I learned by working hard, by being focused on my work and by listening to the instructions.

Kiwi Can

LI: to persevere.
This week for kiwi can we played two games to test if we were going to persevere, it didn't go that well because people were giving up.

For the energizer we played invisible touch, its exactly the same as invisible rugby. If you don't know how to play I can tell you. There are two teams, both teams have to be in a line, one person calls out a number and that number is how much people run to their own teams side and run the other way, the person who called out the numbers also has to say who has the ball, the person with the invisible ball has to run to the other side without getting tagged by the other team. You also can't tag the person that tagged you to get the ball, someone else has to get the ball.

For the activity we played link tag. Its exactly like tag but when you tag someone you have to link up with them, but if there is a inside person in the link they can't tag the runners. It goes on, on and on until there is only one person left.

Defensive Structure Challenge

LI: to learn how to build a defensive structure.
Yesterday we had a visitor, that person was Isaac Ching, he is from the air force and he control's the bombs. We also talked about Dumb bombs and smart bombs. Dumb bombs are bombs that rely on what they are aiming at. Smart bombs on the other hand can be controlled, like guided missiles.

Other than attacking they have to have defense as well. The different layers of defense is camouflage, the shape of the structure, turrets and land mines. After we talked about dumb bombs and smart bombs we talked about nukes and atomic explosions, we learnt that if you are in that explosion you only have about two seconds to live. We also learned that other than the radiation the explosion is air.

After that Isaac Ching gave us a challenge, we had to make a structure that could withstand the wind of a swimming board, the swimming board represents a nuke or an atomic explosion, for my group we made the structure round the wind can bounce off, we used all of our knowledge on building defense for a structure. We learned by working as a group.

Today I learned to go on Aden's kiwi can blog post and make a smart comment on it. I learned by commenting on Aden's kiwi can blog post.

Kiwi Sport (Swimming)

LI: to learn how to be safe in the water.
This week for swimming we learned to swim with a board (not a surf board), swimming through waves and we also learned to put the board out flat when and while we swim with a board.

We also did some races, we did arm strokes with a board (arm strokes but its a pattern of grabbing and spinning arms). We also had to tred water for thirty seconds! I know it doesn't seem much but after that I was exhausted I could move my legs. Luckily we got into the play pool.

When we got into the play pool we started to play a bit but then we grabbed each others hands and formed a circle after that we started running in a circle to create a whirl pool (something that makes things in water). After that we all let go of each others hands and we floated in a circle, we did it twice.

Today I learned by listening to the instructions, by trying my best and by having fun.

Dance Mat Typing

LI: to learn how to type with the right fingers.
Today I played dance mat typing, I played this game because I needed to improve on how I typed. In this games we have to type the right letters and the right words to get the goat dancing. If you want to improve on your typing skills play this game. Today I learned by playing dance mat typing.

Multiplication

LI: To memorize basic multiplication patterns (the times tables).
This week for daily six I did level three multiplication, not division because I'm not really good at it. This week I did my 7 times tables, my 8 times tables and my 9 times tables. Today I learned by getting my math's book and by practicing my 7, 9 and 8 times tables from one to ten. I also learned by focusing on my times tables and by working hard.

Emotive Language

LI: to write informative but emotive paragraphs.
This week for writing we learnt about emotive and informative words. Emotive words are words that give emotion like words that make you angry or sad. Informative words are words that don't give any expression it just gives it to you straight.

We had to go on this google document that Mr Wong sent us. There were informative sentences that we had to change to make them emotive. We also had to write seven or six informative sentences and emotive sentences.

After that we had to make a poster explaining emotive language. We also had to add in what techniques we used to make the informative sentences into emotive or how we could find the emotive paragraph and the informative paragraph. I also added in the types of emotive words, if you want to check it out look at the picture above.

This week I learned by listening to the instructions, by working and and by being focused on my work. I also learned by making a poster and by going on the google document.

Kiwi Can

LI: to persevere.
Today for kiwi can we learned how to not stress. We also talked about some tips on how to not stress. One of them was sleeping, another was eating, another was breathing, another one was meditation and others.

We also played two games, one of them was math's master and the other one was card towers. Card towers were supposed to stress us out but we had to calm down.

The other game was about maths its like GKQ (General knowledge questions) master but when you verse someone you both have to put no, one, two, three, four and other numbers up, once you do that you have to add them together, whoever gets the answer first moves onto the next person and goes on until there is only one. For the card tower game we just had to make a tower under pressure.

Today I learned by going to kiwi can and by playing the games.

Highways, Motorways and roads

LI: to learn about roads, highways and motorways.
This week for inquiry me and my buddy Chris made a presentation/google slides about highways, roads and motorways. We mostly talked about what the differences between a road, street, crescent, place, close, lane, arcade, drive, avenue and other. We also talked about how to design a road. We also added in some building facts. If you want to know these look on the google slides above. Today I learned by working with my buddy Chris. We learned by working hard, listening to the instructions and by being focused on our work.

I learned by listening to the instructions, by working hard and by being focused on my work.

Daily Analogue and Digital Time

LI:to convert between analogue and digital clocks
This week for math's I learned about time. The three types of time is analog time witch is clock time, their is digital time witch might be time on your phone or your computer and there is the twenty four hour time, the navy or the army normally use this so soldiers wont get mixed up between am and pm. If you don't know what is looks like it looks like this: 0800 hrs. I also made this google slide showing all the daily things I do at each time like when I go to school and when I go to bed. Today I learned by listening to the instructions, working hard and by being focused on my work.

Stations

LI: to use a formula to calculate the area of rectangles and squares
This week for math's we did stations, the stations were just pieces of paper, there were also digital copies as well. Each station (Pieces of paper) had maths problems and we had to solve them. Some were about area and were to put them, and some were a bit of cutting, moving and taping. There were five stations if you want to know what station one, station two, station three, station four or even station five were about look on the google slides. Urban Planning

LI: to learn about pedestrians, traffic lights and round about's.
Today for inquiry we made a presentation/video about pedestrians, traffic lights and roundabouts. In the presentation/video we talked about the creators of the inventions. We also talked about what was the story behind it and we talked about how to use it, we also talked about the different types of round about's. When we had finished we had to show it on the TV (Television), so everyone could see it, after the video/presentation we got feed back from Mr Ogilvie, the feed back that I liked the most is when he said the powtoon would be more cooler, I wanted to do it but Matthew and Chris didn't want to do it. Today I learned by listening to the instructions, by working hard with my group and by being focused on the presentation/video.

Persuasive Writing

LI: to write a persuasive argument.
This week for writing we learned to make a exposition. If you don't know what the structure and language features are look at my last writing blog. With the exposition we had to make a google slides with pictures that link with the exposition.

After that we needed to read out our exposition, while recording our google slides. We had to record this on screen castify. Screen castify is a site to record your tab or your face. if you want to try it out click this link.

Today I learned by writing the exposition, making the slides with pictures in each slide and then recording it while reading out my exposition. I also learned by listening to the instructions, by working hard and by focusing on my work.

Kiwi Can

LI: to have perseverance in myself
Today for kiwi can we have a new topic, the topic is Perseverance. Perseverance means always trying and never giving up, even if you get knocked down you stand up and lift your head high with pride. The two games that we played were the perseverance game and the hoop game.

The first game that we played was the hoop game. How you play is pretty easy. You need four cones, two teams and two hoola hoops. Spread the cones out by how many points they give. One cone is ten points so that will be the closes to get, an other cone is twenty points witch is a little bit far, another cone is fifty points so that should be a bit far and the last cone is one-hundred points so that would be far. Each team has two people who through hoola hoops onto a ten, twenty, fifty or one-hundred, if you land the hoola hoop onto one of those cones you get the amount of points that cone gives you.

The activity was the perseverance game. This game is a bit harder than the hoola hoop game. There are four corners. Each corner has a paper witch has a challenge on it and we had to do the challenge. We had to do all of the challenges. Its called the perseverance game because when ever you fail a challenge you get back up and try it again.

Today I learned by playing the games, I also learned by talking about perseverance and I also learned by going to kiwi can.

Kiwi Sport (Swimming)

LI: to learn how to be safe in the water.
Today we learned how to scull on our back's with a noodle to keep us up to the other side. We also learned how to scull feet first. We also sat on the side of the pool and we did a little bit of a dive. At the end we also jumped into the water while bending our legs don't get hurt.

We sculled to the other side with a hands out motion. We also learned how to tred the water again. I think we did this so we can have a quick refresh on how to tred water. We each had to do it so we can show the people who don't know how to tred water how to tred water.

first on how to tred the water spin your legs and scull with one or two hands. If you scull with one hand raise the other hand up and shout for help if your are drowning or in a rip. A rip is when a wave smashes you and sucks you out to sea. I have been in a rip before, I really didn't like it at all.

Today I learned by listening to the instructions, by focusing on the swimming and by trying hard at my swimming.

Inquiry Games

LI: to learn how traffic works.
Today for inquiry we played three games, each games involve traffic, one game is about changing the direction of the roads so the cars can go past, if you want to play this click the link. The two other games were about controlling the traffic lights to help the cars go over train tracks and roads. We had to click the traffic lights to make it go red, green or amber. There are also challenge that you have to face, to help the stuck people you only get one shot at bringing the helicopter down to pick up the cars. These games also show how traffic works, what if we didn't have traffic, it would be a disaster. If you want to play on of those games click on this link and if you want to play the other game click on this link. Today I learned by listening to the instructions, by working hard and by being focused on my work.

Kakangora Lessons

LI: to identify the purpose of narratives.
LI: to identify the underlying morals/themes/explanations in myths, legends, and fairytales.
This week for reading we read the myths in books this time.

We had to do the same thing with last week but now we are reading myths from the pacific. I read the Kakangora. this story is about a tribe in Solomon island called the Kakangora, and they are really mischievous.

We also had to do the reading notes as always, but making the D.L.O. D.L.O stands for digital learning object. I didn't write the story in there because I couldn't find any on google, so then I tried to type it while reading the book, the book had a LOT of sentences so then I just made a summary about it to make it easier.

Today I learned by focusing on my work. By listening to the instructions and by working hard.
