Belle of the Ball

LI: to research about the people who have changed the world.
For the last task for the third day of the second week I learnt that Emma Watson did belle and that she started a worldwide book club, since she made a book club the task I had to do was that I had to make a book review of a book, the book that I reviewed was called Jedi Academy, this book is about a person named Victor Starspeeder making his way throughout his time at Jedi Academy.

The Right to an Education

For the second task of the third day of the second week of the summer learning journey. I learnt that a person named Malala Yousafzai got shot on a school bus, she grew up in Pakistan where women couldn't go to school so that might of been the reason she got shot. After the injury she wrote books, for the task I had to write a short story at least 10 sentences or longer, my story is about an astronaut being friends with a martian and its 11 sentences long.

The Right to Vote

For the first task of the third day of the second week I had to learn that Kate Shepard was the first ever woman to be elected prime minister in New Zealand, for the task I had to choose a person to replace Kate Shepard on the ten dollar bill If Kate Shepard wasn't on the ten dollar bill. If were to replace it with someone I'd think I would change it to Jacinda Ardern because she is another woman who has been elected prime minister of New Zealand.

"I Have a Dream"

LI: to research about the people who have changed the world.
For the last task of the second day of the second week of the SLJ I had to learn about Rosa Parks and how she copped with segregation back then in 1950 - 1960, segregation was the policy where black people didn't have the same equal rights to white people. I had to write the problem, what Rosa Park did about it and what other people thought of what she was doing.

School Strike for Climate

LI: to research about the people who have changed the world.
For the second task of the second day of the second week I had to learn about a person named Greta Thunberg, she started a protest against climate change and how we could use energy other than gas fossil fuel and coal. In doing so I had to list three facts about the protest and a picture of how I can help, the picture of me is me putting rubbish in the bin.

Along walk to freedom

For the first task of the second day of week two of the summer learning journey I learnt that Nelson Mandela went to prison for his activism, while he was at the prison he had a journal to write about each day, I had to write about his time in prison and how I thought he felt about it. If I were Nelson Mandela and if I were prison I would be mad because it wasn't fair back then.

Dear Jacinda

LI: to research about the people who have changed the world.
This week for the third task of the third day of the second week I had to write something to Jacinda Ardern about an article and why we picked the issue. I wrote to Jacinda Ardern about the alcohol being shipped in and how we could decrease the amount being shipped to NZ, the article I chose was by The New Zealand Herald, I chose that article because its problem that I want to solve in NZ and the NZ Herald is a New Zealand news web site so I know I can trust it.

Dr Jessa Rogers Time Calculation

LI: to research about the people who have changed the world.
For this task I learnt that Dr Jessa Rogers won the NAIDOC Youth of the year award in 2010, for the task I had to calculate the amount of time between when she was born to when she got the award. My answer was 25 years 7 months and 2 days.

For this task I learnt that Barack Obama loves to spend time with his family, we then had to write our top five things to do, my top five are playing video games, watching a movie, eating, playing football and organizing the periodic elements in to their groups.

For the last task of the week I had the choice to pick anyone that interest me, I chose Neil deGrasse Tyson. We then had to write the persons name, their job, and how they impacted the world.

Swimming to Safety

For the second task of the fifth day I had to read about a person named Yusra Mardini, Yusra Mardini lived in Syria and due to all the fighting she ran away on to a boat to go to another country, their boat engine broke, Yusra, her sister and three others got off the boat and swam to safety, she then lives in Germany.

Against the Odds

For the first task of the fifth day we had to name three things that we treasure, one of the things that I treasure is my family because I love my family, I also treasure my dads axe because I used that axe to cut my very first log of wood, and I treasure my country because I live there.

For task three of day four of the summer learning journey we had to read about how Valerie Adams was from Tonga, we then had to  make a brochure about Tonga or somewhere that is important. I made my brochure about England because my grandfather was from there.

For the second task of the fourth day of the SLJ we learnt that Mahatma Ali Changed his name, since he changed his name for this task we had the choice to change our name to anything, if I were to change my name I would want to change it to Noah.

For the first task of the fourth day of the summer learning journey we had to watch two videos about Serena Williams and Venus Williams, we then had to list three facts from the videos.

For the third task of the third day we had to make a poster about a dream job from someone we knew. We had to make a brain storm and find six ways to support him/her when they do the job.

For the second task of the third day for the SLJ we had to pick a basket ball player and make a DLO about questions we would ask him/her if we were to interview them. My three questions were: have you ever set a world record for basketball,  what is your personal score on points and do you ever consider retiring in the future.


Rugby Superstars


LI: to research about people who changed the world.
For the first task of the third day of the SLJ we had to read about Johna Lomu and Richie McCaw. Their skills in rugby are described as "Super Powers", speaking of super powers we had to pick three super powers that we liked and we had to explain what we would do with them. I would try to fight of enemies from hurting people.

For the third task of day 2 we had to write a paragraph about something brave that we or someone that we knew did. In this paragraph I wrote about the time I went to Movie World and I went on the log flume ride.

One Step for Man

LI: to create a poetic poem.
For the second task of the second day we had to create a poem about what it would be like to walk on the moon. For the haiku I had to list about 10 words. My poem was a haiku and it was called one step for man.

Flying Solo

LI: to compare Amelia Earhart with Jean Batten.
For the first task of the second day we had to use a venn diagram to compare Amelia Earhart to Jean Batten. We had to research them both and we had the choice of putting an image on the DLO or not.

Oxfan Poster

LI: to choose a charity and make a poster about it.
For the third task for the summer learning journey I had to make a poster about a charity that i'm interested in. I chose Oxfam because in generally they just assist people whenever they're in need of help. I in the poster I provided information about what is Oxfam, and I added two icons.

My Culture


LI: to find where I'm from.
This week for the second task for day two we had to use google maps to mark the places where we're from, I chose to mark where my parents were from first, my mum was from England because of my grandpa, and she was Maori because of m grandma. My dad is from Niue because both of his parents are from Niue.

10 Food Items to bring on a Sea Trip

LI: to list 10 food items to bring to a trip at sea.
For our first task for day one of the summer learning journey, we had to list ten items to bring to a trip at sea and we had to write down why. In this task we have no freezer or refrigerator to use so we had to research some food items that are non-perishable and that would be easy to make.

This week for maths I chose to do basic facts up to twenty speed demon challenge.

This week for ssr selfie I used a book called robots, this book is about robots.

The Reverse


LI: to write a narrative.
This week for writing we had to finish off the rest of our narrative. My narrative is about a virus sent out to thousands of people in LA and two people have to figure out a cure for the virus. In the narrative we had to add dialogue. I learned by finishing off the narrative.

My Pepeha

LI: to make my pepeha.
This week for a summer learning journey task I had to make my pepeha, to do this I used a site called pepeha.com and a template to help me make my pepeha. For the pepeha we had the choice of doing it in any language we wanted to.

Fractions

LI: to define "Fraction".
This week for math's we had to make examples of fraction sentences. For an example we had to write "My Set: random number", we then had to write "Fraction: thirds, quarters, fifths or tenths", we then had to write the math equation and then we had to write it in a sentence. We had to use the same pattern with thirds quarters, fifths and tenths.

The Witches Follow Up Tasks

LI: to use a range on comprehension questions to go deeper into the text.
This week, to finish off our novel study we had to finished all of the follow up tasks, we also had to finish off our books. We then had to put all our work links in the google drawing.

Kiwi Can | Fun Day

LI: to learn how to respectfully communicate.
For kiwi can this week we played 5 games, the first game that we played was traffic lights, for this game we needed to get into partners. The two people had to do certain things when a certain color is called out. The colors were black - switch positions, white - back person touches front persons shoulders, blue - switch positions twice, yellow - front person touches the ground, red - back person touches their head. The next game that we played was musical cones, we had to play against other people to grab a cone, when the music stopped we had to grab the cone, first person to grab the cone moves on to another person. The next game was called bitty bitty bop, a person would say bitty bitty bop to us and we would have to say bop before they finished the sentence, if they said bop and you said bop you'd would be out, they added other actions that needed three people, they were called charlies angles, Mary Poppins and elephant. 

The next game that we played was called hot potato, we have to pass the ball around until a sentence is finished. The last game that we played was called Do this! Do that! The aim of the game is to do the same thing as the person saying do this but when he says do that and we do it we are out.
 

Maori Numbers


LI: to learn about the Maori culture, language, history.
This week for Maori we had to learn about the Maori numbers, we learnt that Tatau meant to count, kore meant zero, Rau means hundred, Mano means thousand and Miriona means million, for an example 1,234,567 in Maori would be Tahi Miriona ma rua rau mano ma te kau ma toru mano ma mano wha ma rau rima ma te kau ma ono ma whetu. We use the same pattern for every number in Maori under 10 million. We used this document to practice our numbers in Maori.

Narrative Hook

LI: to revise the structure of a recount and reaffirm the marking criteria.
For writing this week we planned a narrative and now we are trying to make it, we had to choose between natural disasters or a cure for a growth reverse. We first had to make a hook, a hook lures in the reader to read their story.

LI: to find and get legal images,
For cyber smart this week I worked with my partner to make an interactive poster about where and how to find legal images. I learnt by making the interactive poster with my partner.

Kiwi Sport | Tennis

LI: to use all the tennis techniques we learnt to play singles. 
For tennis this week, we played singles. Like last week we were playing games but the difference was that we wouldn't have a partner. We learnt by using all the techniques we learnt throughout the weeks to play singles.

Kiwi Can

LI: to respect others.
This week for kiwi can we talked about how we could respect each other for their differences, for an example we talked about how we could respect peoples diets. For the energizer for kiwi can this week we had to get a partner and one partner would do something and the other would copy the other, they then would switch roles. The next game was passing the ball around and then shooting it into the hoop.

Fractions

LI: to learn about unit fractions.
For maths this week instead of working on our planes, we worked on learning about unit fractions. We learnt that to find the unit fraction of a set I must divide the set by the number of groups. When then had to make fractions using plastic beans, to show this we had to get an amount of beans and split them up into any fraction we wanted to, we then had to make them into halves and quarters. We wrote all the information in our maths books.


Maori Days of the Week

LI: to learn about the Maori days of the week.
For the Maori task this week we had to choose between two documents, I chose a document where I had to figure out the days of the week. On the document there were three columns with the names of the week in the traditional Maori language, the Maori language and in English. The middle column is the only one that is correct, we had to match the other days with the English days.

Maori Times


LI: to learn about the Maori times.
For last weeks task for Maori we had to choose between two google documents. I chose the document where I had to figure out the Maori times using the Maori numbers. I learnt by doing this task and figuring out the Maori times using the Maori numbers.
