Venn Diagram
For one of our tasks for inquiry we had a venn diagram, the space on the left is the space for explorers, the space on the right are the adventurers, the space in the middle is for people who are both. Explorer means someone who is sent to go somewhere and finds uncharted land and an adventurer is a person who has a thirst for adventure. We had pictures of famous people and we had to organise the photos into the right places.

Exploring Provocations
LI: To consider both sides of a provocation.
This week we have been exploring both sides of a provocation. A provocation is a speech or action that triggers strong emotions. Our provocation was 'should NZ become a cashless society? After considering both perspectives (sides) we think that it should be balanced so we can use technology and cash to pay. We think that eftpos and cash are both just different methods of payment, so it really doesn’t matter which one you pay with. You can use both methods to buy things since its both money.

Nelson Mandela Research
LI: to research about someone who had a positive attitude despite their difficulties.
For one of my care value tasks I chose to research about a person who had a positive attitude despite their difficulties and make a DLO about the person, a person I chose was Nelson Mandela. Nelson Mandela is an amazing man who protested for equal rights for White Africans and Native Africans, he saw this as a big problem because native Africans weren't treated right, some Native African couldn't even go to the same school as white Americans. So I created a DLO explaining what I researched about him and his opinions.

Kiwi Can Reflection
LI: to learn about leadership.
For Kiwican we were talking about Leadership. We were talking about what leaders needed to overcome, and what is a confident leader. They need to overcome fear, embarrassment, anxiety, emotions and the negative outcomes of possibilities. Leaders also need to be brave and take risks. We also shared our personal leaders in our lives, like our parents, or even someone famous. Leadership means being responsible, being confident, and patient. A confident leader inspires people to do their best, and is a role model. Kiwi Can really made us think about all the leaders in our life and around the world.

Places Named by Early Explorers
LI: to find out where our early explorers went around NZ.
For inquiry we worked in pairs to find out what places where named by Kupe, Captain Cook and Abel Tasman, first we researched what places that were named by the explorers, we then put a dots of where they are on a picture of NZ, we then created a map that showed exactly where they were instead of just putting dots on a photo. The markers that are green are places that are named by Captain Cook, the blue markers are places that are named by Abel Tasman and the yellow markers are the places that are named after Kupe. Some of the reasons why places are named are: they might name it after an important person/friend, it could also be named of what events happened their, and it might be the physical appearance (what it looks like), it could also be named themselves.

For the word bank my group chose Navigation as our word because it linked to our learning about explorers and adventurers.

LI: to compare travel time and method of travel to get to NZ
For one of the activities for reading we worked in our groups to do a task called past and present, we had to compare the travel times and methods with Kupe, Captain Cook and nowadays. We also had to include the certain problems that come with all of the forms of transport that we had to compare.
