The Great Taupo Cycle Challenge

LI: to list three people to support me if I was in the great Taupo cycling challenge.
Today for this activity I have to list three people to support me if I was in the great Taupo cycle challenge. The great Taupo cycling challenge is a cycle race around Lake Taupo. The first two people who I would bring is my mum and my dad because when ever I give up they tell me to get up again and trying it carrying on, and how else are we going to learn. My second person is Kevin Hart all though that he might not give me any support but I'd love to hear his jokes. For this activity I learned by listing three people to support me if I was in the great Taupo cycling challenge.

Today is a new activity for a new week of activity's! For today my activity is to talk about my favorite holiday hobby, my favorite holiday hobby is playing games, I know that some people think that games are dumb and can rot your brain but when you play a game its pretty fun, some games might have horror, action or puzzles. Going, going... gone

LI: to talk about the things in New Zealand that happened in 2018.
Today for this activity I have to pretend that New Zealand will sink to the bottom of the sea, YIKES! Just thinking of that sends chills up my spine. I also made an art picture of google drawings, if you don't believe me click this link. The good things about New Zealand is that we were the first country to let women vote, as explained in my last blog post. We also have some really unique food like taro. My favorite thing about New Zealand is that where ever I go I always find some really funny people. Well so long New Zealand, say hello to some fish as well. For this activity I learned by listing the life style of New Zealand 2018.

Living On The Edge

LI: to learn right a letter to my family member or my friend.
Today for this activity I had to write a letter about going to Tundra to one of my family members or one of my friends, if you didn't know about Tundra I can tell you, Tundra is a dry, cold and treeless. In my email I had to talk about my experience of going to Tundra, I have never been to Tundra bight I think that it will be an amazing sight to see on the mountains. For this activity I learned by making a letter to my mum about going to Tundra and I learned by learning about Tundra.

Towering Timbers

LI: to make an argument about logging.
Today for this activity I have to make an argument about why logging should be allowed in New Zealand. I have to provide two reasons for my argument. Argument: First Reason: Wood provides homes for the poor or people who live on the streets. Reason two: Also you might think that we are ruining animals homes but what if we made homes out of would for the animals. I learned by making my argument.

Salt and Pepper


LI: to make my own hotel room.
Today for this activity I had to make my own hotel room, I have to say what its made out of and where its going to be built. I am going to make my hotel room out of glass, because at night you can look at the stars and it will be amazing, I will put it in ice land because its cold, if it was hot the glass will make it hotter and then you'll get sweaty, GROSS. As you can see at the photo I made my lounge, also the house's will be like domes. I learned by making my hotel room.

My Favorite Food

Chicken Nuggets, Fries, Dip, Sauce
LI: to figure out what my favorite food is.
Today for this activity I had say what my favorite food is and how to make it, I am only a child so I don't know how to make things but I just asked my mum. My favorite food is chicken nuggets, the steps of how to make chicken nuggets will be right here: First step: Tear bread into pieces and whiz in a food processor to get fine breadcrumbs. Second step: Slice chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces. Put the flour on a large square of baking paper. Third Step: Whisk eggs in a small bowl, cover the nuggets in the egg. Fourth step: Preheat oven to 180°C and bake the chicken for 10 minutes or until cooked through. Final step: Serve nuggets with dip. I learned by asking my mum about the steps.

Today for this activity I had to ask five to Sir Edmund Hillary if I met him. My first question was that how long did it take you to get to the top? My second question was that what did you bring with you on the way up the mountain? My third question is: Was it hard climbing up the mountain? My fourth question: What motivated you into climbing the monstrous mountain? My fifth question: Did you get injured on the way to the top. I learned by asking five questions to Sir Edmund Hillary if he were here.

The WWF: World Wildlife Fund

LI: to protect wild life.
For this activity I had to watch a video about fresh water seals or tigers, the videos try to convince people into protecting these animals. I picked fresh water seals, the video was about making snow banks because fresh water seal put their pups (baby seal) on the snow bank to give it protection from predators, if there is no snow bank predators have an easy prey to snack on. I learned by knowing the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) and by knowing about fresh water seals.

The Secretive Skink

LI: to learn about wild life.
For this activity I had to list three good things and three bad things about working as a DOC (Department of Conversation) ranger. DOC rangers protect the wild life, they protect plants and animals. According to them they say that the least common animal in New Zealand only lives on two islands. Good things: You can see how amazing animals because on how they live, Its great to see animals in action and they might do something for you, who knows? Bad things: You have to look after them a LOT, you have to go to work with the smell of poo everywhere and animals can get annoying when you get on their bad side. I learned by knowing what a DOC ranger is.

My Beast

LI: to create your own beast.
Today for this activity I had to create my own beast, I had no ideas so I made a three headed snake, as you can see I rushed it. My beast's name is Ned, he is a three headed snake that can breathe fire. I learned by using my animation and drawing my beast.

Martin Luther King Jr


LI: to learn about non violent protesters.
Yesterday me and my group had to present our quiz. Other groups did this as well. Before we did this we had to pick a number out of a hat and that is the sequence that you are going to present in. Foe example if you got the number one that means your first, if you got the number two you go second, if you got the number three you go third. The sequence went from one to nine-teen. Each person in a group had to have equal turns of talking. Once we have finished the audience had to give positive feedback about our quiz and the teachers had to give feedback as well. I learned by working with my group.

Today for this activity I cacti problem. I had to do a math problem that involved cacti, the problem was this: pretend you have a cactus for your birthday, you have to give it 3 millimeters a day, a year pass's by how much water do you need to give it. I need to figure out whats three x three hundred and sixty five. I learned by learning my basic facts.

Fabulous Ferns


This activity I had to list three New Zealand sports teams that have fern in there name, for the three teams I picked the Silver ferns, the Black ferns and the Tall ferns. The Silver ferns represent New Zealand in netball, Black ferns represent New Zealand in senior women's rugby and finally the Tall ferns, the tall ferns represent New Zealand in basket ball. The uniforms of each team are down there. My favorite is the tall ferns uniform because it say's New Zealand at the front, and that shows who they are representing, I like it because New Zealand doesn't get noticed that much. I learned y finding out about these teams.

Giants Among Us

LI: to learn more about New Zealand History.
For this activity I had to explain why would I go/not go to the Tane Mahuta tree. I would have been to the Tane Mahuta tree and all I saw was a gigantic tree right in front of me. I would like to see it again but from a higher angle because I want to see the very top of it and the great view of the sun in the background. I learned by seeing the Tane Mahuta tree.

This week I have to talk about how to be safe on the internet. The first step to to not look at any emails that you get from a person you don't know. Don't go out looking for good things because they might be scams. This week I learned by following these instructions while I am on the internet. Link to Foot Print.


North & South

LI: to learn more about New Zealand history.
For the second activity we had to talk about what is special about our home town. My home town is Tamaki Makourau witch in English that means Auckland. The first great thing about Auckland is that we have lots of movie theaters, I like movie theaters because I watch a lot of movies. I also like how there are lot of crane's showing that there are going to be new things in Auckland. My last favorite thing about Auckland is that they serve great food!. This week I learned by living in my hometown.

My Top Three Favorite Facts About New Zealand

LI: to learn more about New Zealand.
For the first week of summer learning journey I had to pick my top three favorite facts about New Zealand. My first favorite fact was that New Zealand was the first major nation that allowed all male and female to vote. My second favorite fact is New Zealand is one of the world’s least populated countries with over 4 million populations. The last fact that I like is that Auckland is the largest city in New Zealand even though that Wellington is the capital of New Zealand.

Commenting

LI: to make a nice comment on peoples blog.
Today we had to make to make a comment on other peoples blogs. I blogged on Chris's blog, he talked about Odysseus the warrior, if you want to find out more about Odysseus the warrior, click on this to go on Chris's blog.

We had to follow the four steps on making a good comment, first we had to make a greeting and a compliment, second we needed to connect something with the authors work, third we had to make a helpful comment and last we had to encourage the author.

Basic Facts

This week for basic facts I did a basic math's.

This week I learned by focusing on the basic maths box.

Math Games

LI: to learn my basic math's.
I played a game called Jet ski addition, this game was about getting a question right and moving on, if you get it wrong you don't move on, and I won my first game.

I learned by answering the questions, playing the game and by knowing the knowledge first so I can use it on the game.

Interactive Quiz


LI: to learn about non violent protesters.
This week for inquiry we made in interactive quiz about a non violent protester, a non violent protester is a person who made a difference to society. My non violent protester was Martin Luther King Jr who made people give equal rights to African Americans. Me and my group created a quiz about Martin Luther King Jr. This week I learned by working with my group and by finding out information about Martin Luther King Jr.

Nine Tense Story

This week for writing we had to make a short story with all nine tense. We had to make a plan and decide what story we were going to do.

I went onto story starters to give me an idea of what I am going to write about. My story was about a glowing space trooper who played in an intergalactic football league. To plan I used coggle. I also had to add in the nine tense's we learnt before in the story.

I also used story bird to publish my work. This week I learned by using coggle to plan my work.










Idioms


LI: to learn a whole bunch of idioms.
This week for reading we talked about idioms, idioms are like phrase's, for an example: Piece of cake meaning its easy. We had to get into a group and we had to find an idiom, an example of the idiom found in a story and we had to explain the idiom in context, we also had to link the site where we got it from and the definition of the idiom. This week for reading I learned by working with my group.

Kiwi Can - Fun Week

LI: to learn how to use our values in our schools, community's and our environment.
This week for kiwi can we did a recap about the learning that we learnt from the past weeks, the catchphrase's that we learnt and we played four games, we also talked about what was our favorite bit about kiwi can.

We then talked about why we should show respect to our schools, community's and our enviroment, we also talked what we can do to show respect to them. This week I learned by going to kiwi can. Sorry there is no DLO because it won't show.


Division Videos


LI: to learn more of our basic facts.
This week for math's was the last week for our DLO's (digital learning object). For this week I had to do division, but I had to explain what I was going to do for division, I also had to make four videos. I chose to split up numbers from tens to ten thousands. I made one video for he tens, second video for the hundredths, third video for the thousands and the last video for the tens of thousands. This week I learned by choosing division and by making the videos.

Maori

LI: to learn more about the Maori culture.
This week for Maori we learned about how to sing songs in different languages, like Maori and Spanish.

We also went on a google document that had a lot of boxes with names of towns, islands and city's but the names are in Maori, so we have to use the Maori dictionary to figure out the translation to the names and we need to figure out which island the city or town is on.

This week I learned by listening to fire Odie and by going onto the google document.

Subtraction animation


LI: to learn our basic facts for maths.
This week for math's I made an animation about subtraction, I had to make three questions but the answers had to be in different languages, I chose sign language, Japanese and Maori. If you want to check out the animation go to the animation above. This week I learned by making an animation.

Martin Luther King Jr

LI: to learn about non violent protester's.
This week for inquiry we got into the same group as last week, we talked about non violent protesters, witch are protesters who do something good for there community, we had to pick one non violent protester to research on, my group chose Martin Luther King Jr, we chose him because he stopped racism, he wanted black people and white people to have the equality (same rights). He was born 15 of  January 1929 but sadly died the age of 39 4 April 1968. This week I learned by picking a nonviolent protester and by finding out the philosophy and the biography about the nonviolent protester.

Steampunk Art

LI: to learn how to draw steampunk design's.
This week half of the class went to athletics so the other half went to LS2 to make some steam punk designs.

When we went up to LS2 Mrs Anderson talked about the time when Queen Victoria was around. When then started on our steam punk designs, I chose to make a steam punk shark because I think that sharks are cool. This week I learned by going to LS2 and by making the steam punk art.

Perfect Tense's


LI: to identify verb tenses.
LI: to identify the verb tenses: simple perfect, past perfect, continuous perfect.
This week for writing I worked in a group to find twenty verbs that we didn't do last week and put them on a google slides.

This week we are doing perfect tense's witch is the whole thing that is going to happen, we had to make seven videos about seven of the twenty verbs, we had to act out what the verb is and we had to say what inflection that we were going to do (Time).

This week I learned by working with my group, by finding out the verbs and by making the videos.

Kiwi Sport - boxing

LI: to learn how to protect myself or others using boxing.
This week we the last session for boxing, for this week we learned how to do three combos and we had to revise on the knowledge that we learnt from the last boxing sessions. We had to get into partners, one of the partners had to get a pool noodle and the other gets some boxing gloves.

We then did our warm up, we had to do ten punch's then a burpy, twenty punch's then a burpy, and so on up to fifty. We then moved onto our first combo, our first combo was jab, cross, right upper cut and a left hook.

The second combo that we learnt was jab, jab, cross, bridge and a cross and last combo that we learnt was cross, cross, roll and left hook. I learnt by doing he warm up and by listening to the coach.
