Celebrating Diversity

LI: to learn about other peoples cultures.
For the second task of the fourth day of the second week of the SLJ I had to find out facts about specific indigenous communities (Ainu people, Australian Aboriginal people, The Inuit people, Papuan People and the Maya People), I then had to pick two communities and find two facts for each, the communities that I picked were the Ainu people and the Maya people. One fact of the Ainu people is that they live in the northern island of Japan and another is that back then the Ainu people couldn't speak their own language and were forced to speak Japanese. A fact about the Maya people is that they speak over 30 Maya languages and another fact is that words like corn, mother, house, sun and time sound identical in nearly all the Maya languages.

  2. Hello Lukah!,
I have enjoyed reading facts about the Ainu people and the Maya people. It looks like you have put a lot of effort into these Summer Learning Journey activities. One of your facts that I have found interesting was how the Ainu people weren't allowed to speak their own language and were forced to speak Japan. Which indigenous communities did you find the most interesting?

    Keep It Up!
