We also had to search Mt Everest and Mt Wanaka. Also if you don't know about Mt Everest, it is the tallest mounting on earth, the first people to climb up it, were Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay.
This week I learned by listening to the instructions, by working hard and by being focused on my google slides. Check out the days in the google slide below.
I am a Year 8 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teachers are Mrs Anderson and Mrs Fisi'iahi.

Kiwi Can
LI: to learn the values and use them.
For this week for kiwi can we played two games and we talked about why we don't follow the rules. For the energizer we played center ball.
How to play center ball is really easy, all you need to do is get a group of people and tell them to form a number, each person is going to be numbered from one to four. There is going to be ball in that circle, one person is going to call out a number and if your number is called out you have to run around the circle until you get to your spot, after that its ever person for themselves, once you are at your spot grab the ball as quickly as you can.
We then talked about why we don't follow the rules, we said that the rules might be boring or you can't control your emotions. After the talk we played a game called bus stop, how you play bus stop is easier then the last game, all you have to do is get into four groups, all groups must have an equal amount of people in them. Each group is going to have a paper, on the paper there will be five topics, one person is going to say a letter, and your group has to find something that starts with that letter and connected with the topics you are doing.
This week for kiwi can I learned by listening to what people said when we talked about why we don't follow the rules. I also learned by going to kiwi can.

MAIN Long Term & Immediate Causes of WWI
LI: To learn about the causes, conflict, and resolution to World War 1 (WWI).
This week for inquiry we did another slide about the acronym M.A.I.N, M.A.I.N stands for: militarism, alliance, imperialism and nationalism. These are the main four that caused ww1 (World war one). We had to add information about each topic, we had to get the information from a DLO (digital learning object), we had to find out witch text was the right information for the right topic. I also worked with my friend Chris to do this. After the information and putting them with the right topic, we then had to add in what was the immediate cause. We learned by listening to the instructions, working our hardest and by being focused on our work.
Kiwi Sport (Boxing)
LI: to learn how to box and learn how to defend ourselves.
This week for kiwi sport we had our first session of boxing, our coach that was teaching us was named Pax. We first had to learn the three commandments of boxing, respect, discipline and safety, if we did something wrong that one strike, that means hat everyone has to do one burpy, if we do something wrong twice we do two burby's and it keeps on going, but if it's pass three we are having a bad day.
For the first lesson we first had to get liners (white gloves) and some boxing gloves, when we have gotten our boxing gear we had to get into our standing position, our standing position was called rock, I think it was called rock because rock's are very still and this position will keep you still. If you want to do the rock first put your legs shoulder width apart, then put your right leg a bit behind you, bend your knees a bit and put your hands on your cheeks, remember to tighten up your elbows so your body isn't exposed.
With that position we learnt about two punch's, they were called jab and cross, we learnt that if you do the jab it's just punching with your left hand, if you want to do the jab punch with your right hand and twist your body, while doing that twist your heel up. We also learnt a combo witch was called jab cross, it's just merging those two punch's to make a combo, you do the jab first then you do the cross. I learnt by listening to Pax.

Sky Tower Recount Analyzing
LI: to quickly write a recount using the correct structure and language features.
This week for writing we had to write a recount about the sky tower trip, we had to write it in forty minutes. We had to write this in forty minutes to pressure us so we could analyse how good we could write a recount under pressure.
After the recount we had to analyse what punctuation level, vocab level, organisation level, sentence structure level and what ideas level we are, the levels are ranked from R1 (level one) to R6 (level six) or R7 (level seven).
When we analysed what level we were we had to show Mr Wong our work so we can see if we worked up to that level and if we did good under pressure. Mr Wong commented on some peoples work so they can get feed back and learn from those mistakes.
This week I learned by listening to the instructions, by working my hardest and by being focused on my work. I also learned by using LS2's writing rubric to help me analyse what level I was on each topic.
World War 1 Activities Timeline l Vocabulary
LI: To learn about the causes, conflict, and resolution to World War 1 (WWI).
This week for inquiry our new theme is peace, for this week we talked about ww1 (world war one), we talked about the timelines and what happened within those time lines, we had to link the right timelines to the right story from world war one. For the vocabulary list we were listed some words from world war one, we then had to add the definition and we had to add an image that link with the word. This week I learned by working with my partner Chris. I also learned by being focused on our work and by working hard.
Activity Graph
Link to the google slides.
LI: to remember what we need to learn for math's.
This week for math's we filled out a google form that had choices of what we wanted to remember, each person chose and we had to ask a specific question about the topic so we could revise what we did last term, after that all the people who chose the same topic got into one group, we then had to make an activity with the topic that we picked, the topic choices were: statistics (Graphs), Measurement (mm, cm, m, km, miles and other), multiplication and division. You can also try and do the activity that I made, click on the link. I learned by being focused on my work and by working hard.

LI: to learn what advertisements are added in media.
This week for cyber-smart we talked about media and what types of medium are there. We also made a cereal poster. We had to play this game called co-co crunch, click this if you want to make your own co-co crunch poster.
In the poster we had to add in advertisements, like cool animals, themes, catchy phrase's, entertainment and something that people can join. After this we also had to make a fake co-co crunch website with an image of our poster.

Maori
LI: to learn more about the Maori culture.
This week for Maori we talked about the waka migrations and the great migrations, the waka migrations were just one waka finding land , but the great migration were seven boats trying to find land for their tribe. We talked about what food did they eat, how they navigated and what places they sailed to.
We first talked about who was the founder of New Zealand, The person who found New Zealand was named Kupe. The food that they brought on their boats were coconuts, because they were a source of water and food. At night the sailors used to navigate by the stars, in the day they would navigate by the sun because the sun is east so the opposite way of east is west, if they wanted to find the south, they would have to find the southern cross, if you imagine a line coming from the bottom of the cross all the way to the southern star, which be near the horizon (where the sky meets the land or the sea).
This week I learned by working hard, by being focused on my work and by listening to the instructions. I also went on this site to see where they sailed to, click this if you want to go to the site.

Kiwi Can
LI: to be respectful to our environment, each other and for our school.
This week for kiwi can the new topic is respect, and the theme is respect for our school. We were also introduced to two new kiwi can staff, their names were Paige.
We played two games, we first play the energizer which was called "no rules vs rules". For the first round we did no rules, (we also had to tag each other) so we could still play if we got tagged, we could do anything. For the second round we played tag with rules, two people were chosen to have a noodle, the two people who had the noodles have to tag everyone until they are all tagged, the people who were tagged had to go to the other side of the room.
For the activity we played a role play game, so we got into four groups and two groups did a good approach for the role play and the other two groups did a bad approach for the role play. This week for kiwi can I learned by playing the games.

Conflict and Resolution
LI: To analyse a story for its conflict and resolution.
This week for reading we talked about conflict and resolution, conflict is when two people or two groups disagree with each other, resolution is solving/fixing the conflict between two people or two groups. The must do for reading was to read a story called "Spark" we read it because it involved conflict and resolution, this story is the Percy Jackson and the sea of monsters, because Cronus was released and Percy Jackson and Cronus had a fight. We also had to do a DLO (digital learning object), look down below if you want to see what it looks like. This week I learned by listening to the instructions, by working hard and by being focused on my work.
