I commented on Chris's blog, his blog was about his play summary. I learned by commenting on Chris's blog.

Gymnastics

LI: to learn stretch's body poses.
For gymnastics we did the normal stretch's. We changed up the courses for gymnastics, for the first course, we still had the same things, the second course we had the same things again but with the front roll we added a triangle to support us. The final course stayed the same except the trampoline, we had to do a dive roll for the trampoline. I learned by doing the stretches and doing the courses.

Basic Facts Boxs


LI:to remember basic maths facts.
For extra work I did basic facts box, a basic facts box is a box with equations that we have to answer. I use this to practice my math for the future math lessons. This week I learned by doing the basic maths box and by practicing my basic facts. I also learned by practicing my maths.

SSR Selfie


LI: to summaries and retell the text.
I read a book called, Cromwell and his not so civil war. I used this book to do SSR Selfie. This book is mainly about history of Cromwells civil war. I learned by using my book to do SSR Selfie.

Capacity






LI: to measure capacity of containers.
Capacity is how much an object can hold. We had to go onto a google slide show, each slide was meant to be filled with calculations of the capacity of the objects and the pictures of measuring capacity. After the measurements, we had to answer word problems on paper. I learned by measuring capacity and solving the word problems.

Play Reflection

LI: to build vocabulary and expression.
We presented our second play to Mr Ogilvies reading group. Each group had to show their play at the theater. The thing that I've liked about the play is that we get to act and its a challenge. I think the most difficult thing of doing the play was using emphasis and emotion. I also feel like my oral language improved a little bit. If my teacher did this, I think that he doesn't need any help. I learned by doing a reflection on things that we should work on in the future when we do plays.

Earth and Beyond


LI: to activate our prior knowledge about science, earth and beyond.
We learnt about the planets in our solar system. We were sent a google slide with questions asking us to use our prior knowledge on what the question was asking us. After we listed our first words and phrases, we added some new ones, but to know that they were new, we had to highlight them. I learned by doing the earth and beyond slide show.

LI: to use vocabulary to unlock sentence and text structure.
An explanation is a piece of text that talks about how and why the subject of the explanation is talking about happening. An explanation normally uses cause and effect, cause is how something happens and effect is why something happens. We had to write an explanation about learn, create share. After we then had to make procedures of the learn, create, share. I learned by learning about explanations, procedures and casual procedure.

Collaborating Memes

LI: to collaborate on a task
Collaboration is when you work with someone on a project. We also talked about what kind of language we should say to our partner or group. Formal language is the best to say to your group. When collaborating we should plan out what is everyone's role.

Our task was to make a meme about collaboration. We had to have a role to make the meme. For example someone finding the picture.

SSR Selfie

I read a book called, the universe a cosmic tour. I used this book to do SSR Selfie. This book is mainly about the universe and space. I learned by using my book to do SSR Selfie.

Cybersmart

LI: to learn about informal and formal.
Informal is speaking in not a formal way, formal is speaking in a proper way. We had to do a grid of informal and formal. We had to make examples of informal and formal. I learned by learning about informal and formal.

Volume



LI: to calculate the volume of objects by measuring the water displacements.
Volume is the amount of how much space an object contains. We made a poster about how to measure volume when using it. We also had to do a slide show filled with shapes, we had to figure out the volume of the shape. I learned by doing the google slides and making the poster.

Kiwi Sport

LI: to learn the poses for gymnastics.
We changed up the course for gymnastics this week. Before we did the course we had to do our normal poses, the poses include: the L pose, straddle, butterfly pose, seal pose, cat pose and so on. The first course was to lift your self up by using the bars, hand standing on the wall, lifting your hips above the ground using the bar and front, side and back support. The next course was bunny hops side to side on a bench, front rolling on a bench, balancing on the beam, cartwheeling across the stage and front rolling off the stage. The last course was hand standing in different ways, spin jump, a big trampoline jump with a forward roll and the backwards roll. I learned by doing gymnastics.
 

Explanation

LI: to plan ad write an explanation.
An explanation includes a title, an introduction, main points, explain visually and a summary. That was an acronym called T.I.M.E.S.. We had to use an explanation planner to make an explanation about chocolate. To explain visually we used photos, we also had to attribute those photos. I learned by using the explanation planner.

Rocket Experiment


LI: to understand what is needed for space travel.
We made rockets made out of a straw and paper, we had to explain what our aim was to make the rocket, we also had to explain what type of methods we use on the rocket. To record our distances we used the distance measuring grid. Lastly we had to write down what was the conclusion and evaluation. I learned by making a straw rocket.

Maori


LI: to learn about Patupaiarehe.
For Maori this week, we had to create a google slide show about Patupaiarehe, in the slide show I included what is a Patupaiarehe, what does a Patupaiarehe look like and what Patupaiarehe are afraid of. I've included all of the information for all of those questions. I learned by learning about Patupaiarehe.

Star dome Trip

LI: to learn about the mysteries of space.
Since that the subject for inquiry this term was space, we went to star dome, star dome is a place were you can learn about different stars, planets and so on. To start off the star dome trip, we had to do a quiz in groups, the quiz had pictures, we then had to find the pictures in the building. After that we went to the planetarium, the planetarium is a place where you can observe the depths of space. I learned by going to star dome and learning about space.

Kiwi Can | Responsibility

LI: Doing things without being asked.
For kiwi can this week, we learnt about responsibility. The new catch phrase for this week is: Kiwi can says: Responsible is what I am, and thats the way of kiwi can.

The activity this week was using skipping ropes, balance a ball by working together. Once it was balanced perform simple tasks ie; .walk to the window without the ball dropping. We did this by speaking as a group about different responsibilities we have to define what responsibility is.

Flip grid | Kebabs Plays

LI: to build expression.
The task for reading this week was to do the play table mat and make the flip grid video of my groups new play, our new play is called kebabs. In the flip grid we had to introduce ourselves as the character that we are acting as and we had to explain the summary. We used the summary from last week. This week I learned by using flip grid, introducing myself as my character and say the summary.

Force


LI: to understand force.
The task for inquiry this week, we learnt about force. Force can be a push or a pull. Me and my group created a slide show talking force, in the slide we include air resistance, natural forces and what is force. Air resistance is cutting through the air, the natural forces are forces that are made by nature like tornadoes or whirlpools. I learned by making a slide a force.

For SSR - selfie I read a book that was based on star wars. the book was called the force over sleeps. Its about young jedi and yoda off to see what is going on in the night. This week I learned by reading my book and talking about it.

This week for SSR I read a book called the 91 storey tree house. I like this book because there is a whole series of these books. .This book is about two kids expanding their tree house to its maximum level.This week I learned by reading a book.

Word Probem's and Place Value


LI: to practice working out word problems.
The task for maths this week was to solve word problems. We learnt to use subtraction and addition to solve the word problems..The document had different places of where to put things, we had to draw a picture of the word problem. We then had to explain what we needed to do, we also have to write down what was the starting number and what was the agent number/s (Last number/s). We also have to show how we were working out the problem, we new the answers so we needed to get the same answer. We then had to explain what the answer was. We had to do this seven/eight times. I did the problems by writing my strategies on a whiteboard, the videos of what we needed to remember and breaking the numbers up. I learnt this by using addition and subtraction to solve the word problems.

Cause, Effects and Casual Language

LI: what is an explanation.
For the task for writing we had to make a DLO about cause and effect. We also learnt about casual words or/and phrase's. Cause is what happens and effect is why it happened. Cause and effect are just two ideas, two join them together we use casual words or/and phrase's. Casual words or/and phrase's can make cause and effect ideas not only join ideas, they make them make sense.This week I learned by making a cause and effect poster with my group.


Kiwi Sport

LI: to develop body movement of balance, rotation and strength.
 The stretches that we did to start off the session are: L Shape, Seal, Butterfly, Cat, Straddle and back, front, side support.
In the first rotation we did the Beam - Backwards, the Box - cartwheel, the Bench - Forward roll
 In the second rotation we jumped on the Trampoline - Star fish,  Backwards roll, one leg/ scorpion hand stand, Half 180 degree jump.
For the third rotation we did a Handstand, Front support, Parallel bars, back/side/front rotation.
The challenging thing today for me was to do the back/side/front rotation and the forward roll.

What is a relationship

LI: to learn what is a relationship.
For cyber-smart we had to learn about relationships. For an example of a good relationship we had to make a comment on one of the students blog post. The blog post had to include greeting/feedback, positive feedback and a question. I learned by making a comment on Chris's blog.

Play Table Mat

The task for reading this week was to do the play table mat, but we aren't doing super Saturday we are doing another play, this play is called kebabs, the play is about being greedy and consequences will always follow. The main story is about a man being punished because he put his kebab prices too high. I learned by doing the play table mat.

Life In Space


 LI: to understand what is needed for space travel
For inquiry this week, I teamed up with Oscar, Vayan and Jack to make a poster about living in space. We included information about returning from space, the space walk and food in space. If you want to learn about these three topics you can read the poster's information.


Flipgrid | Play Summary

LI: to build vocabulary.
For reading this week we made a flipgrid about the summary of the play. So we didn't waste time we used the summary on the play table slides to make things easier. Sadly my group couldn't perform this week because we had some absent people in our group, but next week we are going to perform our groups play. I learned by making a fligrid about the summary of the play.

Kiwi Sport

LI: to learn how to loosen our muscles.
For kiwi sport this week, this was our first session of gymnastics. Before we did anything we did stretches, the stretches included the L pose the butterfly pose and others. After the stretches we moved onto the challenging gymnastic parkour. The parkour involved rolling, balancing and using the core muscle. I learned by going to gymnastics.

Explanation/Information Report/Procedure

LI: what is an explanation.
For the task this week for writing we learnt about three types of texts, the three types of text are explanation, procedural and information report. Above there are two google drawings, in those two google drawings I wrote down some of things you need in these three texts and added some information about the things that are included in the three text. I learned by learning about explanation, procedural and information report.

Patupaiahere and the mountains

LI: to identify what patupaiahere are.
For Maori we learnt about Tauronga and its creatures and the mt Manganui backstory. Mount Manganui is a mountain in Tauronga. The Hunua and the Watakere ranges are mountains in Auckland, patupaiahere are fairy's who live on these mountains in maori myths.

I learnt about patupaiahere and the mountains by listening to the two stories, The Legend of Mauoo and the the Turehu wars. I learned where the mountains are by looking on google.

Kiwi Can

LI: to define what honesty is.
At kiwi can we learnt about honesty because our topic was honesty, our theme was integrity. We also have a new catchphrase, the catchphrase goes like this: Talk to me truthfully, that is called honesty. The energiser today focused most about telling the truth and being honest. By playing the game we were given three actions to do, and there is one person who picks an action, if you do the same action as the person you are out, there can only be one winner. The activity was to make a play about a specific scenario, the scenario was about honesty, you can watch the play up above. This week I learned by going to kiwi can and learning about honesty.

Simple, Compound and Complex Sentences


LI- to show an increasing knowledge of how a range of text conventions can be used appropriately
This week for writing we learnt about simple, compound and complex sentences. We also recapped of what homophones were. The differences between the three sentences is that the simple sentence is one idea, the compound sentences are two ideas joined together with a conjunction (F.A.N.B.O.Y.S), and a complex sentence is two sentences joined together but the whole idea has to start with a conjunction. This week I learned by learning about simple, compound and complex sentences.

Expanding Horizons

LI:  to learn part addition and place value addition.
The task for maths was to learn about two maths strategies, one strategy is adding in parts and the other strategy is adding using place value, we had to use these strategies on the problems that were given to us, we had to make a chart of the problems and how we worked the problem out using the strategies. This week I learnt by reading the problems and using the two strategies to figure the problems out.

Play Table

LI: to build vocabulary
For four weeks we will be working on a play, this week we were working on knowing our lines off by heart and finishing the play table slides. On the play table we had to summarise about the play and record our lines on the slides, we also had to understudy one of the people in our group so if they are away we could play as them. For summarising the play we had to pick some words from the play, define three words and summarise the play under fifty or under words. This week I learnt by summarising the play and learning me and my partners lines.

Maori

LI: to learn the history about the Maori culture.
For our maori session this week we learnt about Tauronga and how its mountain was made. Legend says a Tanipha slave wanted to be dragged out to see, he then changed is mind and tried stoping using his heels, the sun had just rose up and the giant Tanipha was frozen forever, creating the mountain. We also learnt about other maori creature as well. We also wrote down things about us on a google document in Moari. This week I learned by listening to the story.

Sailing

Yesterday some students from LS1 went to Okahu Bay to do the volvo have a go sailing. Only the people who signed a notice was able to participate in sailing. We learn how to set up the mast and how to steer the boat, we also got to experience the Weta,  the Weta is a big sailing boat. After we sailed along the bay we went back to catch some balls the supervisors were throwing out. Thanks to JR, Justin and Steve for letting us sail with them.
