Kiwi Sport (Swimming)

LI: to learn how to be safe in the water.
This week for swimming we talked about how we stay above the water and stay warm with life jackets. We also learned how to enter the water safely with a life jacket, one hand grabs a shoulder of the jacket and block your nose, then take a big step into the water. If you don't block your nose you could get a cold shock witch is making your mouth open so the water can get in and eventually you will drown.

To stay together form your group into a chain by lying on your backs and grabbing each others shoulders. You then swim together until there is land or a surface to stand on. Also by preventing cold shock huddle together in a group by holding each others backs. This will give body heat to the people around you and body heat to yourself.

When you let go from someone trend, scull or lay on your back to keep above the water, if you are wearing a live jacket there is a head piece to lay your head on, just stay still and keep calm try to scull while lying on your back so you can get close to the people around you. Also when you go onto a boat, you MUST ALWAYS put your life jacket on before you get onto the boa because you can't put your life jacket on in the water, its just really hard.
